I like your plan from earlier.

3) Come out and make a statement that Zorn is still the head coach and will be until the end of the season...

Options 1 and 3 are swift definitive moves, but I think Snyder will go for option 2

Snyder is in that situation where no matter what he decides (given his history of mismanagement), there will be many skins fans calling for his blood. If he goes with 1) it will be construed as Snyder being Snyder and unless Shanahan or someone is willing to captain this sinking ship, i don't think the move will be vindicated. Option 3) would be gutsy but I still think that many will find a way to criticize Snyder for not seeing the situation for what it is. He is in a real tough spot to say the least...Thoughts?
Or #4, make every effort to lock up Holmgren as GM now, then let him make the football decisions. If he thinks it's best for him to get back on the sideline then so be it. My guess would be Holmgren would keep Zorn in place as HC for the rest of the season and then evaluate the best course of action. Fire Blache now and promote from within, Gray or Olivadotti then make a final DC decision after the season. Cerrato can stick around with some BS title, but ultimately control would be Holmgren's.

Unfortunately a coach or person who is getting paid that much is being influenced heavily by money.

We don't need another coach who is influenced by a lot of money or the luster of a head coaching job.

The next coach needs to be impervious to cash influence and value his own pride. Basically we need a coach who wants to come here to improve the team for his own pride not to pad his resume or pocketbook.

3. That would be the dreaded "vote of confidence"

It's got to be number 2 I think. Here's a question for you. How much is a Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden, or Holmgren worth? I just ask because I wonder if at this point people will be ok if we throw $10+ million at any of them to "right the ship"
I also think that #2 is ultimately the decision he will make...

In my opinion, one of those guys is worth $10 mill easily, considering the experience and value they would add. I won't, however, commit to when they should be paid that check b/c I honestly don't know what to think about Zorn. I'm trying really hard to take the loss with a grain of salt and not get into the typical sky is falling mentality. It's hard for me to do this when, the team itself seems to be imploding (when they start pointing fingers internally, or calling out a fan base publicly).

As far as the dollar value, I think 10 mill is a drop in the bucket that is the skins organization. If we finish say 6-10 or 7-9 and miss the playoffs (without one of them), I would wager that one of these guys would represent at least 3 wins above that next year. That turnaround plus the hype associated with adding one of those names to the organization could itself generate enough of a revenue to pay for a large chunk of that salary.

You have a picture of Lady Gaga in traditional Native American garments shedding a tear for the environment.

Speaking of avatars, would Sumo consider making a few Capital avatars? I say a few because then it would be the same deal with the NFL shield avatar right now, to many people using it.

It at least shows that we're all hanging together on the issue.

What's up with the Ravens???...there's some things one just doesn't do.

...For shame!

Lol, you stole my avatar. Besides I personally just don't see the Ravens as a true Redskin rival. I respect how they are run as an organization and I root for them to do well. They basically serve as my favorite AFC team. Plus the signature should serve as a hint as to part of the reason why I chose to use a Ravens avatar.

I'm possibly being a little dense here, my apologies. Does this mean that you are Eric DeCosta?

Ha! He wishes. Eric DeCosta is an up and coming exec in the Ravens front office, a potential future General Manager

Lol, yeah Smootsmack is dead on. Being Eric DeCosta would be great. Don't worry about it though, it's all good. A year or two ago I probably would have asked the same thing.

From Wikipedia:
Named as one of the most powerful people in sports under the age of 35 ([2]), DeCosta has played a strong role in the drafting of Pro Bowl players like Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Jamal Lewis, Bart Scott, Le'Ron McClain along with significant contributors Tony Weaver, Mark Clayton, Haloti Ngata, Chester Taylor, Ed Hartwell, Dawan Landry, Jason Brown, Jared Gaither, Ben Grubbs, Sam Koch, and Ray Rice.

I'm glad to hear that. With his promotion early this year I was wondering how hard it would be to snag him from the Ravens. Now I guess the only questions that remain are:

1. Will Snyder strip Vinny of his personnel duties?

2. Would DeCosta be crazy enough to come back to the Redskins (he was originally an entry level intern in 1995)?

1995: (with Washington) Earliest NFL experience came with a training camp internship in the Redskins’ player personnel department.

Well kind of. It's more like this guy. Except instead of a guy it's Lady Gaga complete with Sumo's Redskin themed frames. In all fairness though that pic (this) would make for a perfect avatar assuming someone would color it.

Holmgren didn't have a whole lot of success as a GM. Obviously I'm touting Decosta now/again so in all honesty I only want Holmgren as a coach/playcaller. They do need to consider a new Defensive Coordinator. 51% on third down is pathetic especially for a defense with this level of talent.

With Cerrato I picture a Rich McKay type situation where McKay took on a more organizational role and someone else gets hired to run the show. Ironically if it went down the same way as it did in Atlanta Vinny would become President Cerrato.

When you lose 8 of the last 11 with a talented team I find it hard not to blame the coaching although it may not all be his fault you just shouldn't be losing that much with a team who has this much talent.
