Re: Redskins Uniforms

from the same wiki article:

Fans of the National Football League will note the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Redskins, and Green Bay Packers as having gold as a color. The gold they use, however, is a distinctly more yellow color (akin to the non-metallic web color version) than the traditional "old gold" used by the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Saint Louis Rams. In both cases, the color is referred to as "gold".

Yeah, organic gold vs. metallic gold, dammit!

The First Fan-Created Uniform Of 2011

I actually gave this kid some advice while he designed them.

He's 15. Kid has some talent.

Love the updated feather helmet.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

I'd much rather see them wear the Burgundy jerseys with white pants rather than these icky mustard yellow pants. They should go back to the gold pants like they wore in the mid-60s. As long as they never, never wear those all burgundy uniforms from last year.

Yes. My exact thoughts.

I'd be fine with staying with the traditional uniforms that we had during the glory years.

If the fans are clamoring for a change, then let's petition the organization to begin an official campaign for a makeover with fan input -- maybe vote for the best new look.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

Ok I am a new member and from the old school so here is my take on the uniforms. Up until Joe Gibbs #1, the skins always wore their home Burgundy and gold uniforms that appeared a bit drab compared to these updated colors. Then Gibbs began having them wear the white with red pants all these years and to me those got very old. I love the real Burgundy jerseys and gold pants but that color gold is a bit too "busy" and perhaps the shade of gold pants such as what Fl St or Bost College has would be perfect..Just MY opinion..Glad to see the Burgundy back vice Red..

I actually think the brighter gold pants work for our uniforms. They avoided the dreaded 70's look where everything seems to have at least some sort of brown tint to it, which is big part of the reason I hate seeing stuff from the 70's.

Ditto, I think the 70's gold is just too boring as well as the burgundy.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

I didn't like the gold pants in the '07 home game against the Giants, and I don't like them now. Especially since they didn't match the jersey to go with the older look pants.

If they're going to go for the retro look, fine. But don't mix-match the modern day burgundy jersey with retro gold pants -- and yes, it looks like mustard yellow to me.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

I was looking at the Dallas uniforms the other night, and granted I am biased but those stripes and numbers on their jerseys look cheap. Looked like they were ironed on in someones' basement.

I do like the Redskins' band uniforms. A vast improvement from what they had been wearing. For some reason they reminded me of McDonalds uniforms.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Their numbers just don't look right.

The pants that go with the white jerseys are sort of aqua color, too. Not silver -- not the silver they wear with with dark blue jerseys.

Anyway, they're the Cowboys. So they just suck all the way around.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

Yea Dallas jerseys are weird bcuz the pants are more of a greenish color instead of silver. And the blue stripes on the sleeves are differnt colors than the blue star.. Really odd

Get your HDTV calibrated.

But seriously, The unis were just a mix-and-match of jerseys and pants that the team had laying around in the equipment room. Did you see Bidwell? He jersey clearly showed the wide yellow and white stripes on the sleeves that match the same stripes on the burgandy pants. Yes, I know most players are wearing the elastic cuffed jerseys so it's not noticeable but, the stripes on the gold pants (and socks) clearly belong with another jersey. In my opinion, DALs unis are clean. Standard numbers without outllines match the players' nameplate and the numbers are on the shoulders instead of on the sleeves. That's why the 70th anniversary unis were so nice.
