Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
We haven't seen what Charles, AGG, Ismael, Harmon, can do after a full camp. We've seen flashes from Martin, Hudson, Smith-Williams, I still think Love will pan out. Just need that elusive QB.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
My take ... Alex wins games for us not because of any great physical ability.. in fact he really can’t move .. he wins games by getting the ball out quick to the playmakers..there is not a throw that Alex makes that the Kid can’t make .. add in his ability to buy some time with his legs I have no worry that he has the skill to win this game IF and it’s a huge IF .. He has to understand that he does not need to be a hero and win the game by himself.. play like Smith would .. if it ain’t there either run or toss it in the stands.. if he starts and does that we have a chance ..

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
The single most important thing Alex will bring tonight IMO is his leadership. The record when he starts is what it is because the rest of the team has confidence with him under center.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Alex Smith (questionable, calf) is "trending the wrong way" for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Bucs.
Smith will be evaluated before Saturday's game. He's on the wrong side of questionable after pushing through his calf injury in Week 17. At this point, it would be surprising if Smith plays, but Washington will likely take his status to game-time It’s rapport who wrong a lot, still something to watch

Exactly screens screens and more screens. A mobile Heineken should help open up more options. McKissic is key. Seems like our offense is best when he is being used out of the backfield alot. |

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
As for Heineken...he may not ever be a long term solution or even a backup BUT I just have this weird feeling he is going to catch lightning in a bottle tonight - he looked good against Carolina and now he had a weeks worth of first team reps. There is a chance against Carolina it all happened so fast that his nerves didn’t have a chance to get the best of him. I think he has known all week that at the very least he is playing some of the game. Hopefully nerves aren’t the problem with this kid and it is just raw talent. That is half the battle. The other half is him catching that lightning in a bottle and playing the best game of his life. Just like the old man in caddy shack.

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
When Heinicke came in, the playbook seemed to open up a lot. Tampa's defense is very good so we arent going to suddenly win shoot outs but i think if our defense can be in Tom's face early we have a good chance of keeping them down in the teens. The hopeful side of me sees our defense getting multiple turnovers and setting our offense up to win any field position battles.
But I also know Heinicke will throw some pickable balls himself (he did in the Carolina game and the panthers missed them) Which brings it down to what we really need to win this game The football gods smiling on our team and the indian curse lifted. Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
From his college coach, Bobby Wilder:
"I coached quarterbacks 32 years; I've only had one five-read guy, and that was Taylor. He could go 1 through 5 in 2.6 seconds because of his ability to do one or two pre-snap reads and then get into the play."

Re: WFT Wild Card Pre-Game Thread
The OL has to play their best game of the season.
