And nobody is chanting. Makes me think we've got some sort of monastery here.

No, but they are both situations where we have younger guys making the case that they may deserve to be higher on the depth chart, thereby making us question whether we need the veterans (rock and cooley) on the roster at all. Cooley would definitely garner noteable compensation. Rock might get us a conditional ham sandwich in 2017.

A team wouldn't trade us club level tickets for Rock. Trading Cooley is possibly an option because he is a pro-bowler but I would have to see a pretty attractive 2nd round player to justify getting rid of a stud. |

dont you think we have a good amount of vet leaders on our offense? A bit of younger talent cant hurt; I mean we are rebuilding right?

If we keep Cooley and Davis, I wonder if we will move Davis outside a lot to play a Dallas Clark-type role. He's certainly got the speed to play like a slow wideout.

i agree, imagine Davis in the slot... That would be a nightmare match up for a corner.

To me though, as big a reason for looking to move Cooley as Davis' improved play is Cooley's trade value. Of which Rock has none

I hate questions like these. If it's just one or just the other then yes I'm looking for youth. But I don't think Cooley's legs are done yet. I'd much rather see what this team looks like with 2 excellent TE vs. throwing one away with out even exploring how dangerous we could be with 2. I'm all for "Rebuild". Get rid of the old and bring in the new. But are we going to see a true "Rebuild"? I'm betting we see more of the same. SSDD. Only under a new HC. Plus if the team picks a LT in the 1st round and a RT in the second, the third is taken from the Jarmin supplement pick, As far as I'm concerned we can pick OL across the board. Ganther has turned out to be a nice RB. Most likely JC will be tendered the one year because of the CAP being gone. Basically we are set at QB, RB, WR, TE for atleast one more year. My only concern is getting another RB and QB for the future if JC doesn't stay. All the young defensive line players are starting to shine. The young CB's are starting to come into their own. We might need a FS and a true SAM or SLB. Wilson is looking good but maybe if the LB's we picked up last year don't pan out we will need to bring in some UFA's and take a look at them. |

I still can't stand the guy, and his mismanagement of contracts, coaching staff, and O-line has been pretty pathetic, he has made some good moves worth noting. Makes me sick to say that, full disclosure.

I dont think Cooley is going anywhere because of the cap hit. But if there is no cap......

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
I would trade Cooley right now for a second round pick. I think he's a great guy and a player. Davis will be just as good or better than Cooley. We don't need to great TE. Right now, we need draft picks. I don't see any other player on this team that's attractive enough for team to trade away a pick to acquire. If someone makes us an offer, I say make the trade.

Davis is getting better and better judging by the way he's been playing in the last 2 or 3 games. But I still wouldn't trade Cooley.

Re: Chris Cooley for a 1st and a 3rd -- would you do it?
Davis is getting better and better with each passing week. He's younger than Chris Cooley. Do we really need to great TEs, or do we need more picks? We you rather trade Davis who is younger, or go with the older guy? It's not enough balls to go around for both of them. This is a no brainer right here. If someone offers us a 2nd round pick for Cooley we should jump all over it. There are other positions on this team that needs to be address.
