Offenses don't cut it in the playoffs. Defenses do. In the playoffs, the play is more aggressive and defenses tend to shine. Regular season? It's all about the offense and scoring. Post season? It's all about the defense and special teams. It's like the NBA. Defense is a for gone conclusion during regular season, but come playoff time, the refs allow that extra contact and favors those with defenses (why Suns never won) You more likely aren't going deep into the playoffs with a subpar defense in the NFL. That isn't a conspiracy or theory. That is a straight up fact. Research it. (I have)

Pretty much. As much as our pathetic defense gets talks about, this offseason I see the majority of our focus put towards the offensive line both in free agency and the draft. Primary focus this offseason had gotta be protecting the face of the franchise and doing everything in their power to letting him shine as bright as he has the potential to do so.

I agree , they play on diff.teams for diff coaches , are asked to run different schemes . Elite Qb's are going to play at a high level given some talent around them. Lets hope we are talking about RG3 this way in 10 years .

Welker had his lowest output this season since his 2006 year. Welker wasn't needed to make this offense soar like it has. A competent QB was what was needed.

He missed 3 games due to concussion issues and still had just under 800 yards and more tds than any previous season.

Yea and he threw 50 touchdown passes. You just proved my point.

Offenses and defenses win super bowls. Not just one or the other.

Baltimore's D last year was mediocre, ranked in the low teens, won a super bowl.
Patriots had the 31st defense in the NFL... made the super bowl.
Giants had the 27th defense in the NFL... won the super bowl.
Saints had the 25th ranked defense in the NFL... won the super bowl.

Winning a super bowl is about playing your best on both sides of the ball when the games matter most. You can't win a super bowl with a bad offense that doesn't convert when it needs to. You can't win a super bowl with a bad defense that allows conversions at crucial times. It isn't one or the other.

Give me the PPG allowed on defense please. Defense ranking by yardage means absolutely nothing.

He won't be Brady or manning, those guys come every 20-30 years. Nobody in todays league is close to the 2 .

Baltimore was 17th last year. 21.5 ppg
New England was 15th in 2011. 21.4 ppg
New York was 25th in 2011. 25.0 ppg
New Orleans was the highest at 7th in 2010. 19.2 ppg.

So 2/3 past super bowl champions had mediocre or worst defenses according to points per game.

Also last year Denver had the 4th ranked defense by points, with the great Manning. One and done.

The 2007 Colts had the best defense in the NFL by PPG with Peyton Manning. One and done.

So I guess having a great D isn't the only factor for Manning and his teams losing in the playoffs.

Both Brady and Manning owe a lot of their success to their teams.
