I'm pissed. The one time the skins needs to go for the old vet in FA (Cullen Jenkins), they go for the young guy whose a backup.

I'm so pissed we're not getting Jenkins

You serious? Not sure if serious.

Have you not read anything posted in this thread or anything in the Dallas news? Dude's agent went back on a handshake deal with the Skins and tried squeeze them for more money. The Skins chose not to go down that road (which Vinny surely would have) with bidding against ourselves and went with a younger and cheaper player of the same mold. This isn't the Redskins fault even though you want to blame them. Come on man, think with that brain you were born with and stop blaming the FO for everything.

Also, Calm down bro.

Ok I've been out all day and heard this news quickly, not really detailed. I'm just now hearing this from you about the agent asking for more.

I wouldn't budge for more money, however Jenkins is far and beyond better than Bowen. Also not only will we not get a high impact, smart, super bowl, proven Vet, who knows this defense, but he could now be going to the Cowboys...Double dagger right there.

Man, how dare the Redskins go after young players with a lot of potential, instead of aging vets looking for a payday [/sarcasm]

I'm all for getting younger, but this Jenkins signing is going to come back and bit us in the ass, especially if the cowboys get him. Getting Cullen Jenkins would be like another London Fletcher type of signing for us, and not a Fat Al signing.

In the end Bowen will be a better signing than Jenkins, he's like another Jay Ratliff. He's bigger and more athletic than Jenkins and just starting to come into his own. Cowboy fans are crying for reason, let them have Jenkins, I think the skins got the better player.

I sure hope so, and I mean one major positive about getting Bowen is we make Dallas (for now) that much worse on their DL, and give us that much more knowledge about their defense for our team.

And you get a young talented DE with recent 3-4 experience.

Revamping the line certainly. Not seeing a lot of run-stuffers in the new group though.
The front 3 really need to occupy the OL in the 3-4 allowing the LBs to make plays.

Re: Redskins sign DE Stephen Bowen

It's amazingly ironic how many old vets we bring in that are just looking for the big payday, and then when they don't pan out we all say how we need to do things differently. So then we finally start doing things like signing young up and comers looking to prove themselves, and all of a sudden everyone starts complaining about how we're overpaying for people who haven't proven themselves. We've already tried the aging vet route, why don't we try the young and hungry route?
