Damn, Southern style smackdown.. All you left off was kiss my grits.

That being said, I'm really tired of this Favre drama every offseason. My respect for him has dwindled to zero. In the era of selfish athletes, he is the cover girl.

Tiger Woods is probably putting up the money to get this story published lol.

But why SS? Why have the internet God's deemed me unworthy? Why can't I see the link?

So Tiger Woods, Brett Favre and Ben Rothlisberger walk into a bar one day...

After so many failed atempts at that [for them] ever elusive SB title, they're willing to put up with just about anything to take advantage of this short window of opportunity the Favre era affords them.

It may take him as long as he's played to repair his home life amid allegations of his various means of getting his mack on.

Re: Brett Favre Reportedly hasn't decided to retire (AGAIN)

Saw an interview last night on tv...some reporter followed him as he was getting in his truck to do something with his family...stood in the open door of his truck so he couldn't close the door and was asking him all about his decision and if it was for the money. Favre was getting visibly frustrated and kept saying "no, it's absolutely not about the money" as if he was offended by the question being asked over and over. He said if he's healthy, he'll definitely play, but his surgically-repaired ankle isn't completely ready yet and he has yet to get a solid determination about it with his doctors, but when he does, he'll make his decision...also he's keeping the Vikings up-to-date.

Then he finally said "Really, I have to get going" and left.

The reporters' piranha-like behavior makes it tough to hate Favre for any of this. It's pretty clear, if his ankle recovers, he'll play...let him find out and he'll tell us. Stop stalking the man.

If the media would just stop acting so ridiculously and just let him tell us when he actually knows...this whole thing would not be an annoyance at all, even if he waits until 2 weeks before the season starts to decide...who cares? Guys hold out on every team every year.

Sure it's not the best scenario for the team if he decides so late...but unless we're a Vikings fan, why should we care? The fact is...most of us don't...but we can't escape it.

Favre's latest less publicized immoral transgressions obviously will not broker the same headlines they would if his name was Vick, or Woods.

Re: Brett Favre Reportedly hasn't decided to retire (AGAIN)

Any conversation about selfish athletes should begin and end with Favre. This isn't the first or second time he's done this. For all the hell T.O. and Ochocinco get for being 'selfish' they aren't holding their teams hostage for their own self interests. If his ankle was SUCH a concern then why isn't he in Minnesota getting round the clock treatments from team doctors and trainers. He's a sham and a charlatan. Great QB but the media is so suckered into his 'Aw shucks' good old boy act they can't see the fools he's making them out to be.

Yeah the media blows it up, but it does both ways. Favre has a history of crying wolf and he seems to thrive on the attention, good or bad.

No it won't because his ALLEGED transgressions, while disgusting, don't even remotely approach the level of Vicks or Woods. If the allegations are ever confirmed to be true, i'm sure the media will be all over it. I do wonder, though, why you didnt include Rothlisberger in your comparison. Why just Woods and Vick? The comma after Vick indicates that either suddenly started exercising poor grammar or you did have another name there, likely rothlisbergers, yet removed it for some reason. Why is that?

I don't get your comparisons at all. Nothing Favre has ever done even approaches the crap T.O. has done... calling his QB gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), constantly bad mouthing his next QB, forcing his way out of teams, holding out any year he's remotely unhappy or wants to be traded, doing situps in his driveway.... the guy's been a locker room cancer everywhere he's been. His ex-team mates largely hate him. Favre, on the other hand, has been popular in every locker room he's ever been in. his team mates, with few exceptions, love the guy. I don't even know where the Ochocinco comparison comes from. Ochocinco's antics are loved by pretty much everyone (except the league). He's never been a distraction to his teammates. Of the three guys you mentioned, TO is the only one who's ever been a real problem anywhere.

Being selfish and disruptive are two different things. No excuses or justifications for Owens being a prick or Ocho a showman but they are called 'selfish' at the drop of a hat. What the issue I have is that Favre has made a pattern of holding teams hostage while deciding what he wants. Damn the fact that training camp started last week and his team is busting tail to get ready for the season. Forget that the team did the entire offseason, OTAs and minicamps without him. He was busy shootin possums! Enough is enough with this guy, either say you're in or you're out. The constant attention whoring is annoying.

He knows he is coming back, might as well just say it.

Of course he's coming back. He just doesn't want to go to camp, and in turn the Vikes don't want to admit they are giving him special treatment. So we have this yearly drama.
