Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I finally got aroung to seeing Bourne Ultimatum last night. Great movie and a very solid trilogy overall. I'm still a bit confused though, it didn't wrap things up completely.

Has anyone seen Eastern Promises? I should have it coming today from netflix.

same here, I was a little dissapointed in it personally. it just seemed pretty blah throughout the movie with no real attachment built around the characters.

I saw AvP 2 last week, it was a decent flick. I was pretty disappointed at the ending though.

Go see the bucket list, great movie. Very sentimental and funny at the same time.

The wife and I watched Wild Hogs not too long ago. Funny, very Disney-esque. It's hard to see Ray Liotta has a hard nosed biker. He's what, 60?

"See, I called you Ray Liotta because your skin has the texture of a decorative autumn squash."

FYI - I looked it up, he turns 54 at the end of this year. He looks pretty beat sometimes for being 53..

There will be blood is a good movie. Don't take a date there but its a good movie. Its wierd though. It assumes people hate both business and religious people. Laugh at parts that seem funny because they are funny.

Cloverfield is pretty good. Worth watching. I do think it is a pretty good date movie. Not the best but a good one.
a little bit of a spoiler ahead so don't read ahead if you don't want....

People in my theater hated the ending. There were a lot of boos. Bunch of high school kids but the ending was kind of weak. I won't say what was bad about it but people did not like it.

I was thoroughly entertained by Cloverfield... nothing like I had seen in a theater before. I like shaky cam, so that helps- if you get sick watching shaky cam, don't see it. Excellent pacing and I was involved the entire time. It's like a ten dollar 90 minute amusement park ride... a really kick ass ride.

Cloverfield was pretty good. Kind of Blair Witch Meets Godzilla Meets Aliens. I liked it, wife hated it...

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

So I saw Cloverfield last night, and it had its moments. But overall I left the movie feel pretty disappointed, and nauseous (how hard is it to hold a video camera steady?). Shaky camera has its appeal to an extent for me.

Without giving much away, my biggest problem with the movie is that there are so many hidden clues you're supposed to watch out for; even before seeing the movie with all the secret web sites attached to the movie. And that's fine for LOST, where you can DVR the show, watch it online the next day, catch the next episode the following week, and put the pieces together. For a movie, that's just too much work in my opinion.

Overall I wasn't impressed

I've heard Juno is really good. Anyone see that?

SS I agree it didn't do it for me. The problem with "scary" PG-13 movies is that too many people that go are people who have not watched "scary" R movies. So they basically don't know scary.

Some old bag in front of me during Cloverfield was going so crazy I thought she was going to drop.

Pretty hard when you're doing a lot of running. Even though it's a movie, if there was some alien thing terrorizing the city my first concern isn't gonna be, "Oh hey, lemme back pedal so I get get a steadier shot"

I've heard mixed reviews on Cloverfield. I'd still like to see if for myself.
