Re: NFL Draft Thread

Texans having a boom or bust draft. I thought they gave up too much to move up for Anderson. Stroud looked like the best player in the draft against Georgia, but watching him against Michigan? Idk..

Terrible pick by the Colts. You just can't reach that high for a project QB. Richardson is like a 4th rounder to me. He needed another two years in college.

Re: NFL Draft Thread

Hard to call Levis. Played in a great conference though and he can definitely throw the hell out of it.

Remember Hurts was a 2nd rounder with accuracy issues as well. It’s all about scheme and I think EB could help any young QB

Difference is there were times where Hurts looked great and he did lead a team to a title game. Levis has never looked like a top pick to me.

Levis is being humbled which is probably a good thing for him.

Can you imagine what the naysayers would have said if the internet was around about Pat Fischer or Darrel Green?

Yup. Mauch and Bergeron too. Torrence would be my pick out of all of them. I think he is gonna be an absolute beast.

I can see it now

"A 5'8" corner? What is he gonna cover? A fire hydrant?"

Re: NFL Draft Thread

How I'd Like to see it go
47. Traded to the Rams/Colts/Texans/Bears or etc. for a 2024 1st round pick.

97 Best OL, TE or LB available

118. Best OL, TE or LB available or Trade for 2024 or 2025 picks
V same for the rest.

Can’t trade 47. We need immediate impact on the oline or we might as we will draft a quarterback because Sam will get killed. You are already giving up on 2023. Lol. Totally agree with the needs/ wants at 97 and on. Best available oline te or lb. But im not stockpiling picks for next year and throwing in the towell. We can improve greatly with these picks and if you give Howell half a chance than 2023 isn’t a wash yet.

We got weapons galore, a new OC, and a very good defense. 2023 could be better than seasons usually are.

And it's your thinking (Which the vast majority of Skins fans and Skins management also have) that has been in place and executed the last 24 years. I want to build a contender and have espoused acquiring future top picks for years (decades now). Do you know which team adapted that plan? The Eagles.

Watch what the Eagles do tonight. I'd put money that they come out of tonight with future picks.

We have to put the all about now attitude in the past if we ever want to see another Lombardi.

Re: NFL Draft Thread

I'd very much like to see us pick either Steve Avila or O'Cyrus Torrance tonight. That would surely mean trading up. Sometimes it is necessary to trade up to get a stud in a position of need rather than holding pat and hoping for something that isn't going to happen.

I also think ILB Demarvion Overshown (Texas) would be a good fit for us. He is a big time playmaker who would give us playmakers at all three levels of the defense. He might last until the 3rd round according to some of those who project such things for a living.

I'm on punch's side in this debate, primarily because I'm 75 years old and if we do it your way I might never see another Lombardi because I'll no longer be on Earth to see it. Be reasonable; do it my way.

I have in the past been a strong supporter of this idea and still am in many ways, I fully expected the Eagles to trade down one of their first rounders to continue there successful run of taking high picks. But it is dependent on being able to find a willing partner which our FO never seems capable of. You have to be in the position the take a reduction in draft resources in the first year but the payoff in future years is potentially huge. This year they need to win and would benefit from using the 2nd rounder, so I don't think they will do it, but given that there is limited space on our roster right now it would pay dividends to shift some of our later picks into future years
