Re: Beltway Battle Begins Gameday Thread

Our secondary will hurt us all season. CB should’ve been addressed seriously last off-season. I’d explore trading for a CB before the deadline. Offense will keep us in games, but we needed B-Rob today. Thought our front seven held up pretty well.

Re: Beltway Battle Begins Gameday Thread

I think the team did a decent job against a good Ravens team. B-Rob was sorely missed. I thought the defense did a decent job. They were definitely playing against the run, and I thought they did a good job at keeping Lamar contained. Zay Flowers def killed us with short to intermediate pass catches.

I really love how Daniels responds when placed in a tough situation. And using his best receiver Terry in critical moments. The first pass was sneaky good, but that 2nd TD was a thing of beauty.

I don't understand them scratching Davis. You can't tell me he wouldn't have helped out there today.

If any team has a good corner available for trade prior to the deadline agree would consider. Ours were a liability today. A lot of wide open receivers for Lamar to throw to.

Re: Beltway Battle Begins Gameday Thread

There is no shame in losing to a team like the Ravens who were playing their best at home. Not too many teams would have beaten them yesterday. This season is not about being contenders, it's about building a winning culture and most importantly finding a QB who can change the team's future. I think we have our answer. He showed yesterday there isn't a player in the league who can deliver the ball any better than Jayden Daniels. He was fitting it into tight windows all day long.

Of course the difference was the Washingotn secondary and it was exposed again. But i don't want to see a trade. Peters is not a quick fix guy and I think he is thinking long term success over a quick fix.

Lot's of talk about the corners and for good reason. St. Juste is the best they have but he stil has not learned to keep his hands off, way too many PI penaltiies on that guy over the years. But man we have been searching for an impact safety since Sean Taylor.

i think our corners are adequate for this season, what happened yesterday is do to the threat of Lamar and Henry we had to go a lot to man vs man; all you had to do was shut down flowers who is good but not great; unfortunately not having a shut down corner to guard him crushed us.

I also put some blame on the offense; in the first half the D had some stops and a turnover; with this weak D if they hand you something like that got put points on the board; the O started very slowly yesterday. Missing BRob really made us one dimensional against a good team.

But hey we were competitive and we are 4-2 with arguably now our hardest game of the year behind us. Go back and watch Bills vs Ravens; JD5 and the Commanders definitely held their own against a top team compared to Allen and the Bills.

Pssssss...by the way if Lamar or Henry go down on a significant injury this team is cooked.

I didn't get to watch the game but watching highlights and reading up it sounds like the Ravens were well in control even though the score was close. They racked up almost 500 yards of offense which is not great. One of the things I didn't understand and I didn't hear it in the post game was why when the Commanders made it a one score game, and knowing your defense was incapable of stopping the Ravens, didn't Dan Quinn go for an on side kick?

No more than we are if JD goes down... These are franchise players for a reason and the franchise will suffer greatly if you lose one of those.

If the offense had been able to score a TD after that pick, it would have greatly affected the course of the game. And in that particular drive, I feel that BRob absence was definitely felt. As good as Ekeler and McNichols have been, they don't have the same effect that BRob has in the run game. The Ravens have a good run defense, but I agree that not having BRob took away from the running attack.

Arguably you play the odds there. If we don't recover the onside kick then the Ravens get the ball virtually in scoring range with probably the best kicker in the game. It's a moot point about the D stopping them, because even if we stop them after the onside kick-off and they elect to punt (and it's more likely they're in Tuckers range by then), they're pinning us deep with seconds on the clock. If we do put them inside their 35 with a normal kick-off and stop their O, we get the ball back with enough time on the clock to go 50-70 yards rather than a likely 80-90.

But our D was wasn't going to stop them either way.

I scoffed today listening Sheehan saying the offense was just fine. Pathetic

I agree, the offense was slow to warm up and beating your chest about field goals made…while every point counts, you will lose on the road against a good team settling for field goals.

Weren’t we the second best running team coming into yesterday? We wilted instead imposing our will…yes BRob was out, but Eckler and McPickles have shown they can’t carry the rock.

I was disappointed in the offense yesterday as well as the defense.

Re: Beltway Battle Begins Gameday Thread

4-2 is on pace for 11-6.

The 2 teams we have lost to are a combined 8-4, and both losses are on the road.

We are so far ahead of the curve, it's absolutely beautiful.

Jayden Daniels is a fucking boss. He's a rookie, and it doesn't feel like it at all. It's probably not even fair to him. He's raised expectations so high, it's the standard now that he plays great.

Our defense sucked with Allen, including horrendous run defense. Newton will have to play a lot more snaps. Hopefully him and Mathis can stay healthy. Wish we still had Ridgeway right now. But at this point, our defense stinks, and Jayden is going to have to keep being elite to keep winning.
