However, Haslett has to improve his scheme and adjustments or it makes no difference how well our guys do. I'm very frustrated with the defense. Strongly believe we have the talent, albeit in a 4-3 front, to be a dominant defense, but our coaching has been pretty abysmal. If Haslett can't optimize his scheme and adjustments to improve the defense dramatically over the rest of the season I think he needs to go.
IMO there is no where near enough talent in the secondary to be a dominant defense . . . the large cushions that the Skins use are to hopefully keep the corners from getting beat deep . . . that is because they SUCK!!

A dominant front 7 has proved to compensate for a pedestrian DB corp. I can think of four recent SBs where this was the case (both NY wins and Pittsburgh wins). The only SB winning defense I can remember that clearly dominated from its secondary was our ole buddy G Williams in NO.

And I don't think there's any lack of talent among that group, even with the Carriker/Orakpo/Merriwether injuries. With those guys we should be a top 5 defense, and even without them top 10.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

The Keys to Victory over the Giants are the following:
1.We need to get on the board 1st. TD the first drive. We have been very good in the red zone scoring TD's vs Fg's.

2.We need to keep our 3rd down and distance under 5 yards. We need to convert on 3rd downs to keep Eli off the field.

3.The Offense needs to be balanced which will keep the Giants pass rush off balance. Meaning having success running the ball which will open the passing game. Getting the ball out of RGIII hands quickly on passing downs.

4.Defense can play more agressive with a lead. The defense needs to continue to force turnovers and even better score a TD on defense. We need to shut the Giants running game. Make Eli have to beat us by passing. If we have a lead this helps our pass rush out.

5. The new kicker has to make his FG's when given the opportunity to do so. BB needs to make a big special teams return this week.

6.Win the turnover battle, limit the mental mistakes.

7. Keep RGIII clean in the pocket.

Final score Redskins -31 Giants -23

Skins will lose this 34-20 . The Giants are pretty good and our D like usual will stink it up. But if we win than this should give the skins a nice boost I just hope our D can finally atleast hold a team down to 19 points.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

I say Eli stinks it up today, and tosses 8 INTs and gets sacked 11 times, fumbles it 5 times. He also has one of his punts blocked, drops and INT and get 13 facemask penalties. He also will get flagged for unnecessary nudity when he moons the fans after getting pulled in the 2nd quarter, but more importantly, he dislocates both of his shoulders while dropping trou, effectively ending his season. The Giants trade Eli Manning in the offseason to the Chargers for Philip Rivers. Eli Manning is so depressed, he jumps the border into Mexico, and becomes a flamenco dancer in Ciudad Juarez (his apparent disguise while he heads the largest of the drug Cartels in Juarez). He gets arrested soon after by mexican marines, his photo plastered all over the mexican newpapers. He blames the Washington Redskins defense THIS DAY to his fall from grace and ultimate demise.

Ultimately, Eli gets sentenced to watch reruns of Brian Orakpos Geico commercials while cooling off in a cell in a prison in the middle of the mexican desert.

The End.

Re: Breaking it Down - Skins @ Giants

I"m sure several others have said this, but here are a few key points that need to happen for us to win this game.

1) OL has to have a near perfect game against their outstanding front 4.

2) Our DL/OLB have to get pressure on Eli or he'll eat up our secondary.

3) On offense, we need to establish the run so that the play action can be affective.

Don't care how many they score. As long as we score one point more.
