Scud's Studs (Week 14 vs. Patriots)

Wow, that was quite the game. I definitely thought that we'd get our doors blow off. I was proud that we hung around and fought hard (channeling my inner Gibbs). Time to hand out some Scud Stickers....

Kyle Shanahan: I've been a big critic, but I tip my hat to the balanced game plan. If it weren't for the two turnovers (which weren't your fault), the Skins win that game. Nearly 500 yards of offense and 27 points.

Helu/Royster: Both guys looked nice. Helu seems to get better every week.

Skins receiving trio: I know Moss had the bobble at the end that turned into a pick, but overall he, Gaffney, and Stallworth made one big play after another.

Patchwork O-line: Really held it together well for the most part all afternoon in both run and pass blocking. Looks like we've got two solid youngsters in Hurt and Smith.

Who were your studs today?

Everybody you just mentioned. Defense obviously wasn't on the same level as the offense today, but it's nice to see the Skins get into a semi-offensive shootout.

I always believed that if you spend so much time scouting a guy and drafting a guy, coach him up and play the guy. Wake up call for "Paperback" Williams.

Good choices plus

Great INT by Josh Wilson in the end zone

Brandon Banks with a better throw, as ugly as it was, than Beck ever made this season

Oh and whatever coach it is, maybe it's Foerster (I don't know) that's been working with guys like Smith and Hurt during the season

Helu continually impresses me so does Perry Riley is doing a good job complimenting our linebacker corp. Good Rex came out today and it was a shame we could not punch it in the endzone on the final moments of the game. And Kyle Shanahan really dug deep in his playbook this week because that reverse and throw was really something to see.

Tough loss... I thought the Skins played with a lot of heart today and showed they're not going to pack it in.

Helu, Stallworth, Gaffney, Grossman, Royster, Wilson, all get props from me.

Re: Scud's Studs (Week 14 vs. Patriots)

Skin's OL did a great job today. That sack fumble was on Grossman.
Receivers did a good job today getting open, having said that, we played an awful secondary.
London played like...well great as usual.
Riley looked great, he's definitely better than Rocky, and has a lot of speed to him.
Moss played great for 59 minutes.
Brandon Banks played well.
Cofield and Bowen did great making NE one dimensional with passing only, by shutting down the running game.
Josh Wilson did a nice job in coverage today.
Gano made all his kicks.
Shanahan called some great plays today, then again we played the worst defense in the league.

Love the effort today.

Rex- did great after the fumble in the endzone, he gets an assist by big Mo Hurt, but still...

Kyle- great balance today.

Helu and Royster really shined today.

Oline did well.

The whole team, really. I know I've said this before but when Rex is in the whole team just seems to fight harder. Big prop to Wilson for his pick and the play calling on offense. I expected the typical three and outs with deep bombs the first time we got down.

Re: Scud's Studs (Week 14 vs. Patriots)

Kyle, great game called today. It's amazing how when the OL provides decent blocking and Rex plays like an NFL QB you seem to be a better coach. Reality is that Kyle is a damn good coordinator and when we have the talent at the right positions we will see days like today a little more often.

Mike, for the 2011 draft class. We saw a glimpse of what's possible from this class once they mature. Kerrigan didn't have his best game but we've seen plenty from him to know what we have. Jenkins and Hankerson showed flashes in limited action. Helu & Royster have shown well. Gomes, Paul, Hurt and Neild have all played well in their roles and above draft slot. Smith played decently and we can get to see what he's got over the next 3 weeks.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

That's exactly right. Willie Smith just might be our future RT, I like him a lot, Hurt is getting better too, although he struggled today.

Except early on, and that cost us 7 points.
