Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
This is turning into a polarizing topic. If Haynesworth is the clown, then i say keep the circus tents up. He is a lazy asshole. And this doesn't distract the team, they are too busy sweating, bonding, and learning. It's just fodder for us.

And this circus you're talking about, I'm pretty sure that it only appears that way to us on the outside. Within the team, this is building up Shanahan's credibility even more and putting AH, who is essentially a child, in line -- exactly what a child needs.

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
I agree with this now after this morning. I like what Shanny did, but now enough is enough. I think Shanny gained the respect of the team and this is another step reminding everyone this bullsh*t of the past is over, you were 4-12 last season: change is here.
So point is proven, everyone is going to be treated equally and the expectations are set...Now its time to bring everyone together and get to work.

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
Here's an idea for AH: show up to 50% of the OTAs. Then you won't have to run suicides in the broiling summer sun while everyone watches.
Once Shanny said there would be a test, AH has to take and pass the friggin test. What's so hard to get about that? The alternative strikes me as worse: special treatment for a player who's already made a stink in the offseason.

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
This league has long been catering to the Prima Donna. Nobody like s but most teams do it. I have no doubt guys like Big making multiple m's....passing out on the field between plays and unable to go because he's to...(fill in the blank) cause problems with the rest of the team and the true "team players" .
I TOTALLY respect and support MS for going against popular opinion, standing his ground, making an example of BIG. He is doing what is talked about but rarely pursued.......demanding TEAM first from his guys and the attitude that HEY, you ain't all that special. There will not be any problem with.....any guys laying out of OTA's, or taking plays off, etc in the future?

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
The actions of the team should not be influenced by the media.
Matt Bowen acknowledged that these conditioning tests are normal. It was understood by the players that missing over 50% of the offseason workouts meant you had to pass the test. So, here we are with the test and he hasn't passed it, but people want to ignore the pre-established rules and let him slide. For shame.

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
Redskins Insider - Shanahan is done commenting on Haynesworth's condition
"He'll pass the test," Shanahan said. "He's just going to have to be in a little bit better shape. I don't know when he's going to pass it. But he's going to work extremely hard... He was on the treadmill this morning and hopefully, in the near future, he'll be ready to practice some football." For the second straight day, Haynesworth worked briefly after practice with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and defensive line coach Jacob Burney. Haslett and Haynesworth walked off the field together, talking and smiling. "When Albert does pass the test, he'll be out on that football field going 100 mph," Shanahan said. "I just think it's the best thing for him to be in the best football shape he could possibly be in...so when he's healthy, he can contribute to our football team. "But I don't want to put a guy out there before he's ready, before I know he's in shape. I know it's the best thing for him. He may not know it at this time, but I guarantee you, the big linemen I've been with, the guys who are in the trenches, they still need to be in shape. "This test, it's a very minimal test, and we've used it as part of our workout program for a long time."

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
Hmmm.. So 300 yards is about 3 football fields, or 0.1705 miles.
With some simple math, that is like running at 8.77 mph for 70 seconds on your treadmill at home, taking a 3 1/2 minute break and then doing it again. Doesn't sound that hard, even doing it with 85 degree temperatures. Then again, I don't weigh 300 pounds. Perhaps we could take a poll to see how many of us can do this.. |

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
I honestly think I could do it with ease. I'm gonna leigtamtley try this weekend just to see how hard it really is... then again, I am about 120 pounds less than he is.
