Redskins QBs?? Food for Thought

OK here is a question I am throwing out of there. How many rookie QBs have the Redskins groomed into good QBs? Also how many Redskins QBs left our team to go to the Superbowl or be sucessful QB's on other teams?

Please chime in.

I can think of two off hand as far as going to other teams and goign to the Superbowl..Brad Johnson & Stan Humphries..

BJ was already a good QB whe he came here. Stosh had a good team around him and a decent system. Other than that no one I can think of.

Trent Green is the big one that comes to mind.

We groomed Rypien into quite a success, though that was ages ago.

We drafted Sage Rosenfels and he's pretty good...but he's still not a starter yet.

In Gus we trust turned into 10+ year backup, taking this thread a step further, our inability to hit draft well in the 1st round has left us a middle of the pack team since 1992. We get props for Taylor and Samuels. Vote is still out on Landry and Campbell. Not that other teams are perfect, but not drafting well in the 1st round has hit us hard.

Have to agree, our FO sucks, as well as our scouts. Samuels, Cooley, Taylor, and even Arrington have been the only ones to really pan out at all since the Norv days and Lavar ended up fading quick. Still wish we could have kept Gus. At least he was a fighter.

The answer is not too many QBs. Sage Rosenfels does not count, we really didn't "groom" him. As said before, the vote is still out on Campbell and Brennan is looking promising.
In my short life I have not been able to see many QB draft picks, but the big one that comes to mind is Ramsey and he was an utter failure.

I wouldn't go so far as to say our FO sucks. I think mistakes have been made, but bottom line is no team is perfect when it comes to selecting players. Look at our O-line last year and the great job backups did filling holes due to injuries. That doesn't happen if our FO/scouts suck.

The only other former Skins QB that I can think of that came close to the Super Bowl was Jay Schroeder with the Raiders.
