Draft Grade?

So far all the grades coming in our draft outside the organazation are a big fat F, basically our draft is being called a joke, starting with big time Rocky, a less than impressive LB who we again try to make look like a draft day steal by once again giving up far to much for an average player, it seems we are starting to form a pattern when it comes to the draft, target a player who's a projected later rd pick and give up way to much to draft him earlier. In so doing making it look as if we have some special insight that others overlooked.

I don't know what we would have done if a team drafted him before he reached 53, what a big time loss that would have been.

Although he is from miami I guess that automatically means he's great.

My prediction, good old Rocky will not outplay either Clemons or Holdmen, and we will be wondering when the rest of the draft picks are going to be ready 2 years from now, that's if they can crack the practice squad which is where the entire draft is headed.

Re: Draft Grade?

I agree, it seems if it fits peoples personal opinions on the site these people who evaluate the draft or write these columns are wonderful and what they write or evaluate is to live and die by, but for heaven sake as soon as they write about the Redskins being bad or a player you have a great interest in being dogged these writers suck Redskins haters. I agree with everyone that most of the time the writers have no earthly idea any good insight into the draft, the Redskins, etc.... It is funny even myself like yesterday searched and searched for someone to say something good about Rocky McIntosh because I did not know much about him and if it was good that writer knows what he is talking about and others who didn't like the pick use the other writers who say the pick and the draft sucked for the skins, some sites said good others said bad. I think we have proven ourselves time and time that we do not know more than this organization when evaluating talent. Of course they are going to miss on some, all teams do, but we have had some good pick ups to this team via FA and draft. I don't care if you say they can't pick players in the late rounds of the draft their picks got us to the playoffs and this years FA and draft filled every hole we had on the team so to me it was successful off season. Draft grades mean squat. Reggie Bush even as good as he is could be a bust in the NFL with injuries, or just being on a bad Saints team not in the right situation, anything can happen.

Re: Draft Grade?

It does seem like a high price to pay. Why did we have to give up 2 second-round picks in addition to the sixth-rounder (which we got from the Jets anyway)? I hope it works out.

Re: Draft Grade?

I knew we would go after a LB with our 2nd rounder, and not surprised at all that we had to move up to get him. What I am a little suprised at is we drafted so many defensive players. We still have no depth at O-line. I thought we may address those needs, but then again how many lineman would actually make the team drafted between the 5th and 7th rounds. Our draft grades from year to year aren't always going to be totally fair either. We throw draft picks away like they are deceased. So, we dont have many picks to get quality players. McIntosh was a quality pick. Smart dude, with sure tackel ability. I do think he is going to push our OLBs that are currently on the roster. Playing for Miami does make a difference, no matter who believes it or not. This school churns out more NFL players than most. Again, I dont put so much into what the experts give us as far as a grade, besides, this isn't school its the NFL draft. The only thing, I feel, that can be graded are how the player performs during or after a season. I dont care how hyped up a guy is coming out of school, that don't mean SH*T in the NFL>

Re: Draft Grade?

We traded up a few years ago for some little known TE named Chris Cooley and he worked out ok.

Re: Draft Grade?

I wouldn't be too concerned about the "experts". Let it all work itself out on the field. The coaching staff was happy with what they had prior to the draft and any additions were a plus. This team is young and is set up for a run!

Re: Draft Grade?

If we come out of this draft with a starter in McIntosh and some depth with a couple of the other picks, I'm happy. Let's face it, chances are a couple of these guys won't make the team. Maybe there's a hidden gem amongst the later round picks, maybe not.

Either way, I really like McIntosh and he seems like your typical GW linebacker.

It's no secret the Skins don't build through the draft, so naturally the "experts" are going to give the Skins a crappy draft grade, and it's probably deserved unless those later round picks pan out.

All draft grades at this point are so subjective anyway. You really can't fairly judge a draft until 2-3 years down the line.
