Saunders did get an interview but Chiefs' GM Peterson wanted Edwards way before the season was over, we were hearing about that in November and December all the time. Edwards was leaving as long as NY let him out because KC was offering a longer contract, with more money, so Edwards got piece of mind and an escape from the NY media hounds..... Saunders and Peterson didn't get along very well and clashed on a lot of issues and Vermeil was the person who allowed them to work together. Edwards sure didn't to much to impress me this year, besides turning Brooks Bollinger into a decent backup QB. Saunders may not be head coaching material, but he's going to help Gibbs out a ton and Edwards will be hard-pressed to establish the quality of an offense that's lost it's leader to our beloved Redskins.

Peterson and Edwards go way back. The job was Edwards' as long as he could sabotage the situation enough to get the Jets to give him up for a measly 4th rounder. There weren't going to be any other canidates.

I suspect that they wanted someone with a defensive background since that has been their Achilles Heel.

Re: The Other Side of Saunders?

So Saunders is a "snake" and knifes people in the back and is untrustworthy. Didn't Herm pretty much do the same thing to the Jets organization? Why isn't Herm being held to the same standard? Hmmmmm,,, I wonder why....

So, his complaint is that Saunders is very nice to the hometown media, but then he makes a bunch of unfounded rumors, many of which contradict known facts? Um...ok.
