Can Brunell lead this team to a super bowl?
Note to mods: If you think it worthy, how about a poll on the question above.
1. Assume the Defense is lights out next year (as it was in the latter half of this year). 2. Assume the O-line is relatively healthy (with un upgrade at left guard) next year. 3. Assume the skill players (Portis, Moss, Patten, Cooley) are relatively healthy for all next season and we retain all assistant coaches. 4. Assume Mark Brunell doesn't suffer any serious injuries (like in the Giants game) and starts all 16 games. However, he will have the normal wear and tear that a 36 yr old QB in this league would have. Assuming 1 through 4, do you think Brunell can play well enough at QB for an entire season for this team to get to the superbowl and win? The reason jacka$$es like Pasta are so confident that the skins won't win the Super Bowl anytime soon is precisely because they don't believe any of the QBs on our roster are good enough to lead us to the SB. What do you think? |

If all that is true and we get a legit threat at WR2, I think the answer is yes. But it would be next to impossible to make it through a season so unscathed by injury and wear & tear.

from the look of the last 2 games I don't think so there is a huge difference between season games and playoffs and he just could deliver you might have to win the division and get a first round bye for him to do it

Re: Can Brunell lead this team to a super bowl?
I think Brunell can take us into the playoffs, but that he would run out of gas late in the season as he did this year. Brunell clearly had little power left in the Philly, Tampa and Seattle games. Moreover, he'll turn 36 before the Redskins play their third game of the 2006 season.
All four QBs who will play in the championship games this weekend are younger than Brunell - Matt Hasselbeck, 30; Ben Roethlisberger, 23; Jake Delhome, just turned 31; and Jake Plummer, 31. Those four or five years make a huge difference in speed and ability to play a 19- or 20-game season, which would include the Super Bowl.

I think he can, but I don't think it's all on his shoulders.
A few more weapons, better offensive line play, and I definitely think Brunell is the kind of guy that is capable of taking the team the distance. |

I think Brunell can be just as successful next season as he was this season, but he's not going to win a game when it's do or die time. He still plays not to lose, so unless Washington has a lead in most games next year; No, he won't win a Super Bowl. |

I think he can. If we can muster home-field advantage and develop just one other receiving threat, I think we'll definately get to the Super Bowl.

I could be wrong, but it would be nice discussion material if anyone knows of Gibbs road record (regular season and playoffs) when trailing in at the start of the 4th quarter. |

Re: Can Brunell lead this team to a super bowl?
I think Gibbs was able to win with Rypien and Doug Williams running the show, Brunell is good enough too. We need some upgrades to the supporting cast.

Re: Can Brunell lead this team to a super bowl?
I think he can when healthy. Honestly if I could tell Brunell any single thing right now it would be that ....if he gets hurt in a game, its ok to take a week off and make sure everything is good before going back out onto the feild. I think the guy pushes himself too hard when hurt and this is where alot of the problems down the stretch came from.

Of course i believe Mark Brunell can lead us to a Super Bowl. He almost led us to one this year, but when he got hurt, everything went downhill.

Re: Can Brunell lead this team to a super bowl?
I don't think Brunell can take us all the way, but if Gibbs keeps him in there then that's all I need to know. If Gibbs thinks he can well then he probably has it in him, but I just don't see it. If Ramsey leaves then it's still Brunell's team obviously.
