Re: The Spitting Ejection

This is rediculous...ST's actions are indefensable. Anyone defending him should stop and consider how they would view this incident if ST played for the Cowboys...

What difference does it make? It's not like he speared a QB or kneecapped someone on purpose. He insulted a guy and according to the ref, spit on him.

If a Cowboys player who was really, really good did that I'd say, "wow, that guy is a dick, and I bet a lot of guys are going to be looking to give him what's coming to him" and that's the end of it.

And secondly, let me ask another question. How many times have you seen a game where the ref misses the guy starting a fight, and catches the guy who retaliated? The retaliator ALWAYS gets tossed.

Ultimately, I dont care if Taylor did it, because without him, we arent in the playoffs. And I don't even know for sure that he did it.

A lot of you guys just seem to like hating on your own team. And that makes me sad.

Re: The Spitting Ejection

I don't think anyone here is defending Taylor's actions as acceptable. Taylor was flagged for UC and ejected. End discussion. Should he be suspended for another game? That will be for league officials to decide, not us. If so, the Redskins will have to go to Seattle and GW will have to run the defense w/o him- just like he ran the defense w/o Springs Saturday and w/o Walt Harris earlier in the season, and more recently w/o Carlos Rodgers. Taylor or not, we'll have a solid defense courtesy of GW come Saturday.

For those of you who wish to crucify Taylor as a street punk, thug, etc. bear in mind that sportsmanship has been an "optional" part of this game since it's history. Players have done some of the most rude and unsportsmanlike things to each other in order to get a competitive edge or punish the opponent (that is, until new rules were enforced to stop that behavior). For examples see Joe "Turkey" Jones, Conrad Dobler, Andy Lambert, Mike Curtis, Jack Tatum, Bill Romanowski, Steve Wisniewski, Rodney Harrison, Johnny Sample, and let's not forget our favorite Cowboy, Roy Williams, who made a living off 'horse-collaring' ball carriers. While I'm not condoning Taylor's actions I am saying that due to the nature of the sport, don't expect these guys to throw a teaparty at midfield after the coinflip. Football is by nature an agressive, violent, and physical sport. There's a lot that goes on between the end zones during a game- Taylor was the one that got caught.

The only thing that upsets me about the incident is the fact that dual UC penalties were not assessed, which I felt would have been appropriate under the circumstances. This is the second time that an opponent has taken a swing at a Redskin player without any punishment being dealt. The final game of the season an Eagle lineman took a swing at Joe Salave'a and no flag was thrown there either.

Great post Longtime. Sums up a couple of different points I was trying to make in different posts perfectly.

"IKE REESE, Eagles Linebacker

"When we played the Patriots last year [Eagles running back] Brian Westbrook fumbled a punt, and we were all down there scrambling for it. [Patriots linebacker] Mike Vrabel had my testicles in his hand, and he was squeezing them. Where the football ends up depends on who has the strongest will or the strongest hands. Guys reach inside the face mask to gouge your eyes. But the biggest thing is the grabbing of the testicles. It is crazy."

I guess next time Sean Taylor should just grab Pittman by the balls

come on we all know getting spit in the face is much more disrespectful than someone grabbing and ripping on your balls cuz that's all part of the game

Well see grabbing Pittman's balls was ST's first plan, but he probably realized halfway through that Pittman did not have any, so then he went to plan B.

Re: The Spitting Ejection

great post but they did throw a flag against Runyan but it warranted him being ejected too which of course didn't happen. I still can't believe this warrants an ejection but earlier this year when nfl poster boy Ronde Barber took a swing at an opponent and instead hit a ref with a strong cross on the chin and he only got an UC penalty.

While I disagree with Taylor's alleged actions, I totally agree with your post.

This type of thing has gone on for eons in the NFL and every other level of competition. In my opionion Taylor isn't a dirty player, but he committed a dirty "deed", if you will.

I like how GW stands by ST. It's weird, he speaks of him almost like a son.

Re: The Spitting Ejection

Thanks "D". Sometimes I think we're as bad as gossiping housewives and can't help but talk about all the bad stuff that goes on.... we've got our parcel of Brunell haters, Dockery haters, Thrash haters, Patten haters, Cooley haters, Lavar haters, Taylor haters. If we pleased all the haters on this forum, we wouldn't have a fargin football team for crissakes!

With that said, I am glad and thankful that we're going to play again next Saturday. I was realistically looking at an 8-8 season and would have been happy with that. Instead, we run the table, win our last five games, and knock off TB, a team that 'beat' us in the regular season. Honestly, this season more resembles the glory years of Redskin football more than any other in the past 13 years and I pleased as a pig in slop (make that hog...)

Re: The Spitting Ejection

I agree, everyone should be happy as hell that we aren't 6-10. Sean Taylor, well I didn't think he spit on anyone. I don't agree with spitting, but c'mon, do you know how much of that goes on? Anyone here ever play competitive football? I got my ass spit on many times, deal with it. Talyor is a badass. Think of all the great "badasses" For instance, Greg Lloyd of the Steelers. He was a badass, I bet he spit on some pussy on the bottom of the pile. I am not saying that in order to be a "badass" you need to spit, but you should be entitled to talk some shit. Sean Talyor backs it up. Anyway, the media is going to chew this up for as long as they can, they all try to make Taylor out to be a liability to the skins, c'mon, Ray Lewis killed someone, and he is on the cover of video games.

Re: The Spitting Ejection

ST almost cost the skins the game with his stupid selfish penalty. No way would that long bomb at the end of the game been open for TB of ST had been in the backfield. Luckily the ball was dropped. I hope ST can stay focused on what he is supposed to be doing vs the seahags.

It's true, all those media guys want Talyor out of the league, for fear he might knock the shit out of one them during an interview.
