I was paying $240 for comcast/xfinity cable and internet. For internet only, I'm down to $94, but Fubo with Bally for the Braves is $100. So actually only saving a little less than $50. The guy on the phone didn't even mention what I'm supposed to do with the equipment. Guess I'll have to drop it off at an actual local xfinity store.

Re: advice for cutting the cord

I’ve tried everything and each service would double in price after a few years forcing me to try something new.

My breaking point was not being able to get the same channels on different services. No nfl network on direct streaming!

A friend has a router box that is able to stream damn near every channel and pay per view events. All nfl games available without blackouts.
All regional abc, nbc, cbs, and fox are available.
He claims I can watch dc news from it.

I don’t own one because that would be illegal but I hear they are on sale for $350 flat fee and typically arrive within a week.

It’s too risky for me, the streams could be shutdown and he is out $350 but he’s a year in without issue. MLB and ballys channels are all listed as well.

Wouldn’t want to post a link here. Might bring heat to the site and it’s illegal.
Not sure what I’m talking about anymore

i use to jailbreak my amazon firesticks, there so much gray in the law as far as streaming goes they really would never do anything to you, it becomes more of a ethical issue

at this point the only people i know that still uses cable tv box sets are all over 80

what is funny back in the day everyone would complain that the cable company would force you into packages and you pay for channels you really didn't want

now with streaming services you can al cart it but everyone complains now there are too many choices and its confusing

its a lose/lose

i just pay for the best internet i can get in my area (FIOS) then i keep a spreadsheet of my streaming services and turn on and turn off services as i need them

the best deal i have come across and gets about 90% of what i need is the hulu/disney/espn bundle as an added bonus you get espn plus on the web site as well

Re: advice for cutting the cord

It's all about working the free trials. Signed up for Fubo (for Bally/Braves games), but it doesn't have TBS or TNT. TNT has the NBA playoffs #thunderup. So will have to take advantage of DirecTv Stream's free 5-day trial starting Monday to catch 2 games of that series. Then I'll have to find another work-around for the next series if OKC advances. Keeping Fubo because I have to have it for the Braves and is reasonably priced. Don't really need TBS/TNT after the NBA playoffs are done, so don't want to sign up for any other paid service.

More options somehow is not actually better. So many different contracts between carriers/channels/etc., hard to get everything you want in 1 place.

Bally/Xfinity having a pissing match right when the NBA playoffs started is making my life more difficult.

Wonder if someday things will swing back in the direction of people just wanting cable. All of these streaming services are getting out of control. Now the NFL is going to show games on Netflix? FFS it's tiring to keep up with where the games are. Same with MLB, hate the games on Apple, although ESPN is truly the worst broadcast booth out there.

Baseball just announced some games on Roku too. You can watch for free I believe, but yeah, very frustrating to keep spreading the games out all over the place.

Yes, ESPN does suck. Braves have to play on Sunday Night Baseball back to back weeks. Sunday day games are my favorite games of the week to watch. So I have to wait 6 hours later for a way worse broadcast. Good times.

I'll often mute ESPN and listen to the radio broadcast. Can't stand all the talk about spin rate, bat speed, exit velocity, etc. All the stats and analytics just sounds so forced.

I hate all the in-game interviews where they split-shot the game. I'm trying to watch a game here. And they talk about teams that aren't even playing in that game way too much.

Re: advice for cutting the cord

I could rant for hours about that shitty bb coverage. I don’t even like miking the players. It’s as though they’re looking to find entertainment in anything but the game itself. And the analytics and prop odds are such a distraction.

Just cancelled Verizon bundle except for internet 300 mbps. Went for DirecTV streaming, Choice package, at $104/month so I could get MASN and Monumental. Have Max, Netflix, Apple, Prime, and dive in and out of others. Pissed that Direct makes you rent their box. It's just cable with another name, I guess, and unless you're a hacker or a moocher, you're going to spend some dollars if you like sports and bingeable TV

Wait, DirecTv Streaming requires a box?

Yes, no longer optional! You can use your own (I bought a refurbished Osprey), then learned that when you sign up, they send you a new Gemini and charge you $15/month. More and more like cable

Wow, that's bullshit. Glad I signed up for Fubo. Just paid 16 bucks to have Max with the NBA games. Will cancel once the season is over, then just have Fubo again only.
