Randy Thomas

"...The damn Pro Bowl, and [contract] escalators and bonuses, all of that does nothing for me. Give me a win, and that's better than a million bucks."

Do I even need to comment on the coolness of this statement?

I love that guy. He's tough, big, smart, and has the heart of a winner.

Re: Randy Thomas

Regardless of what he says, the guy deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. He's probably the most consistent lineman we have.

Re: Randy Thomas

That's a Gibbs player. Too bad this doesn't get as much publicity as the TO crap.

Re: Randy Thomas

I just read the article MK posted and saw Thomas mentions TO in that quote:
Quote:
"I hear the stuff the guys tell me [about the Pro Bowl], but I'm a humble guy," Thomas said. "I take things in stride, and if I sat back and thought about all of that my head would be blown up like a T.O. [Terrell Owens] kind of thing, you know? I'm O-line, man. We live to be dirty and live to play good. The damn Pro Bowl, and [contract] escalators and bonuses, all of that does nothing for me. Give me a win, and that's better than a million bucks."

Re: Randy Thomas

Give me a break, I like the guy and how he plays, but he came here for because the skins offered him a phat contract.

Apparently it's "Redskins Negativity Day" in saden1-ville:

C'mon - the guy is excited about playing football - cut him some slack. Who cares if he signed a nice deal? Rookie kickers in this league make more than most of us ever will in our lifetime. The difference is what a player's attitude is after he signs the deal.

The point is that once he got the contract he didnt feel like his job was done. Its a business to a large extent, but the special guys are the ones who play for more than a contract on Sundays. I won't ask guys to take a home town discount, but I will ask them to play their guts out where ever they land. Thomas falls into that category.

Re: Randy Thomas

Well, it is easy to say for someone who has a few mill in the bank already.

That being said I still love his attitude, he's been a rock solid lineman for us since he got here. Definitely a two thumbs up signing.

I'm a realist. I'm not happy about 6-6 an nor should Thomas. Who thinks he left the Jets to win more?

No offense intended S, but YOU consider you a realist. IMO, you are a fatalist. BS or not, you gotta' love a statement like that. I know JOE does

the skins to this point since he came onboard r 17-27 & the jets r 18-26 and a shell of their formerselves this season with multiple positions like startin qb, rb, wr, and even their head coach that have unsure futures. and with as fast as that team got bad, maybe he knew something like this season might happen? U can't begrudge a man for taking a really nice contract. Sure they all like the money but he honestly sounds like one of the few that cares as much or more about actual production leading towards wins.

Dude - the Jets were 6-10 in 2003, Thomas's last year there. At worst it's a lateral move, but at best it's a move to a team with a coach who has won 3 rings.
