Yes, but rants doesn't equate to news and analysis; therefore, I don't hold anything Sheehan says/writes in high regard, because he's just a disgruntled fan as Matty said.

My opinion as well.

He is biased but he acknowledges it. He has stated clearly he isn't a journalist.

He is also reasoned and like others have said does have sources.

Of course this written by Sheehan’s boy: Thom Loverro....it’s a total bitchfest, RUskins should give it a read.

If I want to read a bitchfest, I'll just re-read my own gameday posts from last season.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Don't know what to believe when it comes to the report about TW not wanting to play for the Skins ever again.

What I do know is that we are obviously NOT in rebuild mode. We drafted a QB 15th overall. We strengthened our D (ok losing Reuben Foster sucks, but still). We have a strong backfield. We finally have an effin LG !

TW is a beast. He's our top player year in and year out. We need a strong OL to protect our young QB.

Pay. The. Guy.

We've made a decent job building this roster from the trenches the last couple of years... don't throw away the keystone to its foundations now !

I agree! Keenum, Haskins, whoever is at quarter is going to need a strong offensive line, and Trent needs to be there at left tackle.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Sheehan made a great point yesterday:

If Trent were not on our team and a free agent, would we sign him to the contract that he wants? Sheehan's answer, when i agree with, was No.

You don't make a 31 year old injury-prone player, one mistake away from a 1 year suspension, the highest paid LT in the league. You just don't.

"Someone" will always pay just about anyone. That doesn't mean its SMART to do so. The skins are, at best, a mediocre team already handicapped with 20 million in dead cap money on a QB for each of the next two years. So they are already operating with 12% less salary capital each of the next two years due to that - they are not in a position to take additional risk on a player like TW who, based on recent history, will miss atleast 1/4 of the regular season games anyway. Given the situation they are in, giving him any more money would be incredibly stupid - especially when they don't have to do so. He's under contract 2 more years. He can play it out or miss 32 game checks.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

I know he's 31 but he still has 3-4 great years of ball left, it's not easy finding an ELITE Tackle, we have been lucky to do so over the years but that well will run dry soon.

Peters and Whitworth are both 37 and still playing well. Can't tell me Trent can't play well for at least the next 3 seasons. I'd look to give him a 2 year extension to resolve this mess but that's it.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Very frustrating.. still no official word from Williams on the whole fiasco.. friends/teammates speaking for him.. Man up look the camera in the eye and tell it like it is ! It’s not like we aren’t used to this teams front office screwing stuff up. I would feel better if he has some legit issues with med staff vs some kinda ploy to get a new contract .. we have a poll started to keep or trade him and nobody has heard from Trent .. maybe he will issue a statement 😳
