Re: Domestic terrorism
My professor from college, who i still keep in touch with, recently posted this article on his FB and it really makes you think:
The Christian Terrorist Movement No One Wants To Talk About | ThinkProgress Lots of folks are quick to point out how violent the Muslim religion supposedly is, but doing some research it seems that radical Christians are at least on par with some of the incidents that have occurred. For all of the goodness contained within, the Bible is a decidedly horrifying and violent book, with many in-depth recountings of mass murder, rape, etc.. People will argue the "new testament vs Old testament", but it makes no difference. I am not against people having religion or going to church, etc, but i guess the argument could be made that in the USA, we are slowly seeing hate groups / supremacists rise up and do what they are doing in the name of Christianity. Matty is correct -the crazy Christians that do that stuff within the USA - need labeled terrorists, because thats what they are.

A terrorist is a terrorist....Black....White...Muslim.....Christian or especially pissed off Jew Kill em' all, let God...or Allah sort em' out I have never been able to understand how any thinking person can try and arrive at any other conclusion or try to defend the action s of a killer? BUT it is incumbent on our officials to make sure the vetting system actually works rather than feed us the usual Bullshit and lip service we have grown accustomed from the Government. It is critical to detect potential threats to our already war torn USA. The last thing we need to be doing is importing more potential terrorists. We have....no border security as it is......we don't need to add to

Re: Domestic terrorism
Really enough is enough. When will the shootings stop. As it is a time for action. Not just all talk in gun control.

They won't,not as long as the NRA has the public all worked up about the 2nd amendment.Shooting up a grade school was n't enough they said give all the teachers guns .Now this group ,not a single wacko ,a group comes and shoots up a place for mentally challenged people ,the NRA answer will be to arm everyone and this won't happen....................but it will ,over ,and over again.

Re: Domestic terrorism
What type of society have we become that would spawn such people that do these types of things?

Re: Domestic terrorism
I am no fan of gun control both from a philosophical and practical aspect. With that said, however, something has to be done. Freedom v. security is a constant challenge.
These attacks are consistent in going after the weak and undefended. People in church, children at school, and now the mentally challenged. The reason we band together as a society is - in part - to protect the defenseless among us from those who would otherwise harm them. On the other hand, if we strip away the right to protect ourselves and, instead, rely on government to defend us, (1) we will need to increase the police presence significantly - try getting Baltimore City PD to respond to a burglary; (2) everyone will need to get used to a much more intrusive government and be ready to surrender significant personal freedoms unrelated to the right to own a gun. Just as with freedom, security comes with a price. The tragedies need to end. While I generally am not in agreement with him on issues, I agree with Obama's statement that these types of shootings cannot become "something that just happens in the ordinary course of events."

Re: Domestic terrorism
Hey Joe, after you figure out how to control the guns from going to crazy people then can you work on this issue: is there a way for some Muslims to stop hating us and committing violent acts against our society?

Re: Domestic terrorism
I don't know what the answer is but something has to be done.
As a society we are completely out of control when it comes to gun violence. |

Re: Domestic terrorism
I agree...its a fact. I don't understand how someone can be on the no fly list, but able to purchase a gun. How is that? Your a threat enough to fly...

Re: Domestic terrorism
We also have significant discrepancies on who states choose to sell to. An individual whose committed a violent or gun related misdemeanor might be banned from owning a gun in FL but they can go to GA or AL and pick one up no problem. Only 33 states restrict gun ownership based on mental illness. In Vermont one can have committed a felony and still purchase a gun.
