Re: Kai reportedly cut

Good, his KO were terrible.

RG3 is next; and Gruden better start producing or he will follow.

Re: Kai reportedly cut

Personally I think that is unfortunate.

I may be mistaken, but I think that Kai was the most accurate kicker in Redskins history.

It, however, seems that the team was sort of determined to get rid of him.

Idk, at least Kai was consistent on field goals. I hated his kickoffs as much as the next guy but he was our first relatively consistent field goal kicker in a while.

Well his KO was effing garbage and Kai max range for field goal is something like 45 yards. We can do much, much better

Not worth it. The yardage we give up on kickoffs is worth more to the other team in terms of expected points than the difference between 75% (assumed dingus off the street) and 80% (Kai) on FGs. Nevermind the FGs that Kai can't even attempt because he doesn't have the leg.

He was 24-27 on FGs last year, hope the Redskins didn't go out of their way to find trouble.

I figured they did the numbers on this. If our new kicker can hit the same percentage of shots as Kai did and put kickoffs in the endzone this will definitely be an upgrade. I just hope our new guy isn't one of those that has the leg but doesn't have the accuracy.

Accurate on the kicks he attempted. The trouble is 24-27 fails to measures the kicks he never attempted because Jay knew he didn't have the leg. Were there 3-5 FGs in the 50+ range that Jay just didn't try? It's hard to know, but I'd rather have a K that can get touchbacks and make my 2-minute offense's target the 37 yard line instead of the 30.

I would agree here. Not sure they should panic and mess around with an inexperienced kicker with a stronger leg. Hope it works out.

Re: Kai reportedly cut

In today's NFL, KOs are a critical part of the game. You have to be able to kick out of end zone

re: Redskins release Kai Forbath, sign Dustin Hopkins

Important statistical perspective:

Quote:
Since the start of the 2012 season, Forbath had made 87.1 percent of his kicks (60-69), ranking him 19th in the NFL over that period. He's 26th in accuracy since the 2013 season (84.3 percent), according to ESPN Stats & Information.
So 87% over the last 3 years is only good for 19th in the NFL. These days kickers are way more accurate than they ever were before. Don't go thinking they necessarily threw the baby out with the bathwater here, Kai's supposed strength as a FG kicker isn't really a strength at all.

Looks knee jerk on the surface but it's really not. He didn't have a strong camp and obviously they've been looking to replace him for a while now.
