Seattle has had their hits and misses just like any other team, they've just been fortunate in some aspects. People forget how they paid $26 mil for Matt Flynn and didn't work out. They were lucky they had a competent starter in Wilson, otherwise they would have been up the creek without a paddle in terms of QBs. Seattle has been fortunate that Marshawn Lynch worked out for them at all, after having such difficulties in Buffalo. He is their number one offensive weapon and one of the reasons they made the playoffs last year and this year. They've done a good job in the past two drafts and have gotten good production out of low rounders. But they've been fortunate in other areas and haven't suffered through some of the catastrophes the Redskins have had to deal with (RG3 injury/cap penalty, etc., etc.).

When our team f*cked up and got a FA QB (McNabb) who sucked, we were not so lucky.

Shanny wasn't into preparing a team to compete, most of the opening games of the 4 seasons he was here were played poorly, their games after the bye week were always terrible, he didn't do a great job here of coaching and grooming young players, that's why he preferred veterans. |

Q&A: Sean McVay - Washington Redskins Blog - ESPN
McVay is going to serve as QB coach, Gruden to call the plays. |

He is the offensive coordinator. He'll fill in when Gruden needs him to - whether if it is running meetings, offensive drills in practice, whatever is needed...he'll also help to game plan with Gruden. He just won't be calling plays on game day.

Rather than having everybody step into their new roles, it almost seems like the whole offensive staff will have a bit less than the normal at their position. HC's in this day and age have too many other issues, time management, challenges and reviews, etc, for them to be calling plays. And since the defensive side will be Haslett's I guess, that means rather than a HC/OC/DC model we will be in more of a NYJ type model where the HC is mostly concerned about one side of the ball. I don't really like that model. |

![]() Our model seems to work ok for the Saints. Payton is essentially OC and play caller for them. But in light of this and your well-taken critique, the question then becomes, "Is Jay Gruden the next Sean Payton?"

sign rak/hall/riley, get byrd/OT/WR, draft OG. i wouldn't mind another CB or swapping hall for talib etc either. i think we've got enough money to get it done, especially with the old guys we'll be able to toss this year.

Good call on Riley. I think Reed based on his draft status has been about where we should have expected him to be. I think Jackson is a great role player, but I still would be SUPER nervous about him starting.
