RIP Phife Dog from Tribe

A Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dawg Dead at 45 | TMZ.com

Passed away at 45. Im guessing diabetes complications?

For anyone born in the 70's and 80's ... Tribe, de la, beasties, common, pharcyde ... and phife dog was the best of the best.

maybe my favorite.

every track, he had the best lines and flows.

Re: RIP Phife Dog from Tribe

The Low End Theory is one of top 5 rap albums ever and Phife was an original. Tribe Called Quest still ahead of their time. Sad day.

I miss the days of rap groups and even duos. These days its all about "me" and straight garbage on the mic. as expected hip hop been watered down. I used to hate when folks would say back in the day this or that was better. But in the case of hip-hop, it certainly was, no argument, it was 110% better. Other folks can enjoy listening to today's garbage, 99% is crap. Ill pass

Totally agreed. Tribe was and still is one of the greatest. Today's hip hop pales in comparison.

My favorite hip hop group period. I had the pleasure of seeing them live 7 times. Sad day.

Anyone watch the Tribe documentary? I hope Phife and Tip reconciled in a truly honest way before his death.

Tribe and Run DMC were my first legit introduction to rap and their work still stands the test of time thanks to lyrical geniuses like Phife. RIP Phife, you were taken way too soon.

Not a big fan of rap and hip hop music unless you talk about Run DMC, Will Smith, or the Beastie Boys, but I agree with you all, hip hop music today is not like it was back in the day. You can probably say that about rock and pop music as well. Actually, I don't know of any rock music that is played on top 40 at all. Even the alternative rock stations in my area play just the "classic" stuff and not much of the new stuff.

LOL! I have to admit, I liked The Fresh Prince! But you know, I'm a metal guy so I don't know what true fans of rap/hip hop think of guys like Smith. Seems like everybody universally respects Run DMC though.

Will Smith and rap don't go together.
