Hard knocks 2015 texans

First episode was pretty good. Probably the best HK I have seen in awhile.

I really like Bill O, wish we had him. I wonder if when we were searching for a coach if we had Scott M at the time he would have picked us.

JJ makes the show, what a awesome guy.

Hopefully this is a good season has not been good since the Jets.

For the lazy or non-subscribers to HBO here is a good recap focused on the Skins role on HK:

Texans dis Richmond, brawl with Redskins in ‘Hard Knocks’ premiere - The Washington Post

Re: Hard knocks 2015 texans

Except for the brawl, I thought it was a pretty mundane episode. If you're a JJ Watt fan, well, okay, then yes it was a GREAT episode. As the article says, 40 minutes of fluff and a brawl. There was the interminable scene of Wilfork playing basketball with teammates and wives. "Yay! Let's watch a show about football so we can watch a pick-up basketball game." Cut to JJ Watt drinking Gatorade. Cut to fans chanting JJ Watt's name. Cut JJ Watt talking to Vince Wilfork about anything, etc.

I will say this, watching the Houston players bitch and moan about the Skins chirping at them and getting physical with them, left me with the impression that the Skins were pushing folks around a little and doing some solid hitting. Houston coaches and players kept saying "We have to bring it" or "We need to match their intensity" kind of statements. In the end, I got the distinct impression the Skins were the more physical team and the Texans knew it and over compensated, hence The Brawl.

The Texans player's closing statement "Let's get the f*** out of Richmond" says to me that they got their butts chased out of town. I am good with that.

I like Watt too, and, yes, he is awesome. However, if I want fanboy fare, there are plenty of places to get it. The segments of HK which I like best are the real behind the scenes stuff. The look at what it is like to be one of the not-so-famous players, stories about the bubble guys, watching coaches and players break down the x's and o's. In other words, the stuff you don't, and won't, see in the course of the year.

There will be a million stories on Watt this year, lots of looks into his daily routine. At its best, HK gets access into so much more than that.

If this year's segment is just one long JJ Watt fanpic, it will be get pretty old quick.

I agree but it is only episode one. But like most things on TV it is marketed to the masses not the fanatic. You poll must people and they probably want see JJ not Jeff Adams.

Re: Hard knocks 2015 texans

I loved O'Brien's opening speech to his coaches.
I love the message that he sends...He believes in every one of the 90ish players and the coaches better have them playing.

Much respect for JJ Watts work ethic, Texans are lucky to have their best player being an absolute workaholic AND leader.

Can someone explain why O'Brien was never interviewed for this job? I guess he wasn't part of the good ole boy network from Tampa. My feeling is that there was no way Snyder and Allen could deal with, or handle a strong personality like that.

My guess is he never wanted this job. He was interviewing teams not teams interviewing him.

Re: Hard knocks 2015 texans

Yeah the JJ Watt love fest was a little overboard. But for someone who makes a ton of money, and is the best at his position, he sure isn't sitting around enjoying the pats on the back. Dude works his ass off. Even catches balls on the jug machine, my guess was that he'll be playing more TE for them.

He should have been the first call Snyder made.

They were interested but Texans moved quickly to hire O'Brien. Texans got a jump on the coaching search that year because they fired Kubiak with 3 games left in the season

Would you want to work for Snyder? I sure as hell wouldn't. Knowing good and well the idiot would make game day QB starter decisions is enough to know I would want no part of him. Better yet, be willing to sacrifice the team just so one guy can be developed. It probably took a 5 year deal just to lure Jay here.
