Philip Daniels Article
I hope you werent hoping to get Courtney Brown in the DE rotation. It is ominous when the official Redskins website comes out with a story about our starting de who was banged up last year.
It sounds like we are supposed to think that Daniels can do the job, because the Redskins feel that they arent going to secure Brown. What do you think? http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=6214 |

Who wants an overpaid perennial underachiever anyway? That is Dan and Vinny style of thinking which is why we now don't have the salary cap room to sign players that we drafted who actually perform (i.e. Smoot and Pierce) |

Re: Philip Daniels Article
I certainly don't want Brown as a full-time starter. Look at his track record in Cleveland! Backup at best!

Re: Philip Daniels Article
Brown was a beast before his injuries, but injured veteran top dollar players = less money for your younger hungrier talented players, so you cant spend too much money on a guy like that. Some of his former coaches are in Jacksonville and they have something like 13M in cap space and need a pass rush specialist.
Daniels is a better-than avg. end, but i think our money lies in Ron Warner. He caught my eye in the preseason and i tried to pay close attention to him and every time he was in a position to make a play it seemed he did. I understand that he was not lining up against the left tackle, but it just seemed that he had his head in the game and made plays when he was in. Am i the only person on the Ron Warner band wagon? |

Re: Philip Daniels Article
Ron Warner is solid, and as long as he comes cheap should stay on our team as long as we can keep him. I'd like to see Brown join, but I don't want to rest our hopes at defensive end on him. I think Daniels, who doesn't have the injury history Brown has, can fill that role well enough for a few years.

Re: Philip Daniels Article
I agree. I bet that Brown would want to go somewhere that he would start, even though he has a past history with a lot of Redskins.

Re: Philip Daniels Article
I started this thread because i thought the timing with the Brown visit was suspicious. Does anyone atleast admit that?

Re: Philip Daniels Article
Hmm... I dunno. I don't think that redskins.com gets "leaks" so that the fans can read more into things. I would think that they would just put up a story saying, "With no word on Brown, Skins look forward to Daniels return"

Re: Philip Daniels Article
Brown is apparently not pleased with the incentive filled contract offers he's getting, so if someone is dumb enough to give him a decent deal watch him sign real quick. I read he was visiting with the Jags.

Re: Philip Daniels Article
Well the jags have been chasing a pass rush specialist for a few years now, hoping to get one when they signed hugh douglas a couple of years ago (who was released by them) and they have like 13mil in cap room, so I would see them taking a chance on him with at least a decent short term deal. Plus two of his former coaches have moved to Jax.
