Where does RGIII rank?
Like so many others, I'm astounded by what RGIII has been able to accomplish as a rookie QB. I'm wondering how you would rank him against other current NFL QB's.
Honestly, I don't even know how to go about ranking him due to his extraordinary skill set. How does his success at running the ball factor in to his ranking? He throws the ball less, for fewer YPG, than most NFL passers but he is a serious running threat as well as a passing threat. 1. How does he rank among current NFL QB's right now. 2. Where would you expect him to rank next season? Do you think he may suffer through a dreaded "Sophomore Slump"? 3. Do you think he will lead us to a Super Bowl win during his career?

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
1. Id say 6-8 right now
2. Id say slightly better, maybe 5. Sophomore slump? Nope too mentally strong for that sh*t. 3. Yes, but we need to get the defense fixed. The thing that will be key will be consistency in the same/similar systems, too much change and impatience, he will be lucky to see one championship.

Right now hes a top 10 QB in the NFL.
I'd say as for playmaking skills he's the top guy right now, he can do it all and the only other guy would be Aaron Rodgers. Maybe romo

As far as current QBs, RG3 has NFL rookie of the year award on lock down and if the Redskins push to the post season, he's definitely in discussion for NFL MVP. The only NFL QBs that are slightly ahead of him are Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub, and maybe Aaron Rodgers. But RG3 can certainly overtake them before the season is over. Next season RG3 should perform even better than he did this year if that's possible. A lot people lose sight of the fact that he'd be a senior had he stayed in college and next year he'd be a rookie. But next year his numbers are going to rise simply because each of his receivers will have grown greater in the offense. In 2013 we should see a lot more production if that's even possible. I do see RG3 leading the Redskins to a Super Bowl title. And not just one, but maybe three or four. Keep in mind that Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan are far from building this team and making it complete. |

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
You got Eli Manning ranked before Big Ben? Manning is NOT a consistent QB. His heroics in SBs 42 &46 overshadows his inconsistency a great deal. The guy only has a 82.6 career QB rating.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
The way schaub has been playing the past couple games, he might be near the top 10 as well. But I do think that RG3 is higher than rothlisberger and ryan. You give griffin roddy white, julio jones and tony gonzales, then you would have the best offense in the league, bar none. Matt Ryan, while good, is nowhere near as good as our guy, sorry.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
I'd say:
1. Brady 2. Rodgers 3. Brees 4. P. Manning 5. E. Manning 6. Roethlisberger 7. RGIII 8. Schaub 9. Ryan 10. Stafford 11. Romo 12. Luck 13. Freeman 14. Flacco 15. Rivers He's probably not 'slump proof' but teams we face next year will have a whole season of tape on him as well as a potential rule change (eliminating chop blocks) that may impact his effectiveness. He probably will be a more 'traditional' QB next year, more dropbacks and less read-option than this season. As for winning a SB, there are too many factors to definitively say yes or no but within 3 years we will be a SB contender and will remain so for a while.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
The running plays a major factor. I put him somewhere around 12-14 range, which is pretty damn good for a rookie. Is he better than guys like Freeman, Dalton, Flacco,Stafford? I think it's too early to tell.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
I think a more relevant discussion is where does RG3 rank among all time rookie QB's of the modern era.
1. RG3 (at current pace) - 2012 2. Dan Marino - 1983 3. Ben Roethlisberger - 2004 4. Cam Newton - 2011 5. Matt Ryan - 2008

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
Flacco and Ryan are inconsistent to me. Put Ryan on a bad team and I don't think he elevates the talent around him. Same with Flacco.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
Yeah. No way Flacco or Ryan could carry an offense like Griffin carries the Skins.

Re: Where does RGIII rank?
Before the GB game ESPN stats had the top 5 with respect to qb passer rating as:
1. Aaron Rodgers, GB 107.3 2. Peyton Manning, DEN 106.2 3. Tom Brady, NE 105.0 4. Robert Griffin III, WSH 104.6 5. Alex Smith, SF 104.1 He also has 642 yds rushing (# 17 on the rushing list, 16 is Trent Richardson, 18 is Matt Forte) Also, insofar as interception to td ratio among the 5 rookie qb's: Griffin 16 TD 4 Int Wilson 15 TD 8 Int Tannehill 6 TD 11 Int Luck 12 TD 12 Int Weeden 11 TD 12 Int In fact the only number that I could really find him lacking a top 10 ranking is in total yards. 228/game ranked 20th. Overall, if he even stays steady, we should see at least 1 SB win, and hopefully multiple trips. |
