Snow Coming?

Anyone into the weather over here? I remember on ES, there was a weather thread, guys knew a lot. Remember they had the correct amounts of snow almost all the time, when the local weather people said we'd get only an inch (that's probably the only thing good over there now).

I would try to lurk, but the IP is banned over there. Is anyone into the weather like that over here?

Last night it was 4inches, today it's one inch, I'm not too sure if this is another round of idiots or not. Want to know what we're most likely going to get.

Re: Snow Coming?

Regardless, I can't imagine the ground being cold enough to even support any accumulation. It keeps fluctuating here in Rockbridge County, but it would have to be some heavy snow to cool the ground down enough for any sort of major snowstorm.

I wanted just ONE big snow this year to at least let me know it's winter. Was outside in shorts and a t-shirt today. :P

Re: Snow Coming?

Yeah I was hoping tomorrow would be the day, love snow, but looks like it isn't going to happen this year.

Re: Snow Coming?

When I got up around 3:30 am to get some water we had a little on the ground when I looked again this morning it was gone.

Re: Snow Coming?

After throwing out my back shoveling during the last year's round of snowstorms, I would be fine with not seeing any significant snowfall this winter.

Re: Snow Coming?

We had what looked like a spotted blanket when I left for work this morning, but it was mostly froze over and in some places thin or non-existant. Not that I'm complaining, I hate dealing with it during my regular routine.

Huge weather freak here. Glad this Thread was started. If your into severe weather there are some pretty good mobile apps out there. A lightning app called pinpoint shows you where each lightning strike is an alerts you when storms are close.

There's also some pretty nice radars out there where you can look at storm velocities at different altitudes and what have you.

At any rate, I usually find that as the local weather guys gradually lower snow amounts leading up to the storm... It's fun a be a big miss and that's just what happened here.

I hear weather underground (google it) is really good for accurate snow totals.

Not, "It's fun to be a big miss".

Re: Snow Coming?

We got about 5-6", but the ground was so warm it only made for really nice fields and trees. Roads were perfect today and now it's melting like crazy.
