we CAN beat Philly

yesterday was more than a win, it was finally getting the offensive pulse of this team thats eluded us the whole season. Gibbs used the plays that Portis is best at (and not the ones GIBBS is best at). we kept our awesome defense fresh. Ramsey was comfortable in the pocket, and not a rattled rookie again. our receivers were catching balls because they were placed well. no desperation long bombs that we don't have the talent for and take too long to develop vs today's blitz happy defenses..

all things that didn't happen in our last game with the Eagles.

if our offense played half as well as they did yesterday vs philly the first time, we would have won that game. our godsend defense played well like they always do, but they can't be on the field the entire game, and they finally gave out late. if our defense stays what its been all year and our offense remembers a good part of what it was yesterday, then we can beat this team. at home and in prime time to boot.

plus, not even a cast, a neck brace and an eyepatch would keep Arrington out of this game. watch for him play even if its in a burgundy wheelchair.

I like your optimism ill, but let's remember how "inconsistent" we've been the whole season. If we can come out and score early and hold the Iggles to at least 17 points then we have a good chance of coming out on top.

I'm sure that most of the players are really looking forward to this game, and I think the coaches will be in their ear this whole week reminding them of how we lost to these guys last time.

I think our D should be excited to get another chance to prove that they're for real.

Remember: we ran the ball with authority yesterday. THat allowed everything else to happen. ANd while I do very much think that the team played great yesterday, the gints had probably the weakest D-line we've faced this year. THey were just BAD (injuries will do that).

Now, I do think we can beat them, but they've gotta be flat and we've gotta be even better than yesterday. Could happen. I just want to play hard and smart and let the chips fall. Right now the iggles are rolling, so lets keep it in perspective.

(But, man, if we win, I'm going to make some very drunk phone calls to my iggle "friends"!!!)

i remember we held their offense pretty well. TO only had two catches. (yeah one was a TD later in the game). the defense never bended, they finally just broke because they were on the field all game. imagine if we had only some of the clock sucking offense we had yesterday.

i think the inconsistency was partly from the coaching looking for its 'identity'. they still didn't know how to run Portis or at least wouldn't commit to it, and they kept trying to air it out in desperation. both of those things are gone now i hope.

agree 100%. the Oline needs to build something with yesterday's win. if we start throwing incompletions it's because the Oline hasn't done it's job getting Portis past their Dline, or stopping the blitzes on Ramsey - who no longer would have the luxury of the indispensable run fake.

Did you guys see what they did to the Packers? They bitch slapped them and then some. Our D is good, but how our O will performs against their defense troubles me. We were in it with them couple of weeks ago and then they ran away with it very quickly. I think this may be the year the Eagles win the SB.

I can't remember how many times the annoucers called that the G men were blitzing, yet Ramsey remained calm, cool and collected, completing passes like crazy. If the O line holds the Iggles D like they did yesterday, Donovan won't be having as good a day as he did yesterday.

the Eagles can be run against, just have to know how. more importantly, have to know exactly who you are.

our D needs to know when to blitz and when to cover Westbrook (and/or McNabb). of course we'll be covering TO.. maybe Taylor can knock him out.

Yeah, we can take 'em. Last time our Offense was so inept that they gave the D no rest. Retribution!

Okay, I know the monday morning coffee was good today - but what did you use as sweetner? heroine?

Look folks. Not to dampen an otherwise wonderful day - Does anyone remember the talk after T. Bay?? Huge expectations leading to deep, suicidal depression when reality smacked us in the face. Please, Please, Please - let's temper our enthusiasm, it was just one game in which we played well against a bad team. Remember - we still had some dumb penalities (lost a touchdown b/c of one) and had special teams breakdowns (gave up a touchdown - 14 point swing right there).

(BTW - Speaking of depressions: Has any one done a head count? All warpathers still here and accounted for? Did everyone get check on their "losing streak buddy"?)

we didn't know squat about our team in week 1. those dumb penalties weren't false starts or PIs, this next game will be a home game, and special teams? they blocked ANOTHER punt that we scored 7 after..

i take my coffee black.

(head count - don't worry looking for me if Portis get less than 10 carries in a game. i'm just on the ledge)

We're gonna run the table, sneak into the playoffs and win the Superbowl. Excuse me while I go get another glass of Kool Aid.

and i take my Kool-Aid Burgundy. some call it blood.

i haven't said anything about the playoffs, just that i saw what was missing vs. Philly the first time yesterday. and it had to do with new things WE did, not just what they didn't.
