I dont understand why Betts never made it as a starter in the league. He had that great 2006 season, and I think was on pace for another 1,000 yard season last year before that terrible knee injury. 100 yards against Dallas was promising.

Betts chose to be back-up and resigned with Redskins when he was a free agent few years ago.. Betts could have signed with a team where he would be a starter (I believe).. And well, what dmek said - he's a fumbling machine..

I have always liked him too..

Betts kept his mouth shut and prepared like a starter - the guy was a pro here, and I wish him well in New Orleans.

I know he had some fumbling issues but Betts is the kind of guy that you need on your team. He's a pro, he keeps his mouth shut and does what is asked of him. Plus he's a very good 3rd down back and he plays teams. I'm not sure why the new staff bought in Johnson over Betts. How many games til Johnson starts acting like the asshole that he is?

I always cringed when I saw Betts come in on 3rd down or a key situation because I knew if they gave him the ball there was a good chance of a fumble. I agree that Betts chose to be a back up when he resigned here but he was made an offer that he just couldnt refuse considering he only ever had 1 big season. Betts leaving is no loss to this team.

I dont care how good of a professional he is, that means NOTHING if you cant deliver on the field. Besides the one good season he had with us, he was average at best. We shouldve kicked him off the team that year when he failed to score from the goal line against the Giants and single handedly lost that game. They shouldve made him walk home from that game.

RB is probably the easiest position to replace, I wanted Betts and Cartwright replaced years ago.

Never mind that Pete Kendall got blown off the ball and pushed into the backfield. I guess that was Betts' fault too....( roll eyes) I just wish the guy well.

Do what? There were many more that needed replacing before these two pro's.

re: Betts a real Saint/Randy Thomas Swims with Dolphins!

Hate to sound like a broken record but I think his fumbling "issue" has really been overblown.

13 fumbles over the course of an 8 year career.

2 over the course of the last 3 years.

Yeah in 2006 he had 6 (lost 4). But considering for his career he has 1027 touches, that's 1 fumble every 79 touches. Not great, but not someone with a fumbling problem either.

Now, Adrian Peterson has a true problem. He averages 1 fumble every 50.75 touches.

The Church of Breesus welcomes another convert. Sadly, or not so sadly, Betts' on-field twin, ATV is making sure he isn't being missed here.

Yeah, he clearly got tripped on that play.

I wish him well too. I'm always a little disturbed at what people hang on to. Let it go folks, it's just a game. Even the greats eff up now and then.

I understand that new mgmt. often looks to "trim the fat" immediately. So it wasn't too much a surprise that Betts was cut. I believe it was a money saver, but the sad part to me is that we've got a guy here - Parker - who is attempting to revivie his career. I wish Betts was in his place.
