F. . . The NFL draft.
Seriously. This schedule is ridiculous. Some of us love being glued to the TV to watch the draft all weekend. So basically, since I work evenings, I have to miss the first 3 rounds of the draft because they move it to prime time.
The NFL draft may be my favorite football time during the year. I find it fascinating and I hang on every pick. Now the douchebags in the NFL offices want to take that from me. For those of you with no idea what Im talking about: The NFL draft will kick off in prime time for the first time in 2010, it was announced Thursday. The first round of the 2010 NFL Draft will start on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET, with the second and third rounds on Friday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m. ET. NFL draft's first round moves to Thursday night for 2010

Sucks for you guys that work at night, but I love the fact it's being moved to prime time.

Re: F. . . The NFL draft.
it's absolutly retarded they moved it whats wrong with having some beers with some buddies on a saturday afternoon watchin the draft, and the fact the split it up into different days (1st 2nd 3rd) come on give me a break, it just doesn't make sense i feel if anything they might lose viewers obviously they are losing one

Re: F. . . The NFL draft.
Over the past few years I have found myself watching the draft less and less, mainly because on a Saturday afternoon I can find a million other things to do vs. watching TV. However on a Thurs. or Fri night, that's prime TV time. I'll watch even more with this new setup.

Matty, do you really not get together with friends and family. Have some beers, make some wings, and love to watch it all day? Even Friday night, on prime time, I could understand.
What about the west coast. Starts at 4:30? That's pretty damn early. I'm really going to miss draft parties and speculating, etc.

I have no problem with it on prime time but I'm so used to it being on Sat. and Sun. that it goes against everything. Why the hell ruin a good thing?

Re: F. . . The NFL draft.
I thought this thread was going to be a discussion of possibly not having a draft once the cba expires.
I know some people are upset by this & some, like Mike Wilbon, criticize the nfl for overmarketing & making a spectacle of something that's not even a game. But people watch it, including myself, and I'll be into that thursday night for sure. I like watching the nba draft, which is always at night, and I think it should be pretty cool for the nfl draft as well. |

I honestly don't remember the last time I sat down and watched any significant portion of the draft. Not when I can get constant updates on my phone and texts from friends as to what is going on. And then at the end of the day I just log on to ESPN and catch up from there. |

No draft when the CBA expires? I haven't heard of that, you have a link?

Re: F. . . The NFL draft.
I think it opens up a ton of intrigue between Thursday and Friday. Prime wheeling and dealing time during the day Friday, ESPN's rumor mill and prognosticators will be going wild. As for the TV spectacle, I am sure it will get it's share of viewers, and be marketed for effect.
