What Happened To Portis Last Night?
What happened to CP last night? We saw more LB and Sellers in there at crunch time than we did CP. Was he out due to injury or was he out due to a coaches decision? He looked like he was running hard and seemed quick at times.
Any news? Barring injury I can't see the logic of our best overall player on the sidelines in a crucial game. He had the 1 penalty and recieved some lashing from JZ. After that, not much CP. |

My guess is he was banged up, maybe his neck stiffened up.

I thought i was watching the AFC Championship again. Clinton had to be really injured because like my boy LT he's a warrior that would've played every second.

Re: What Happened To Portis Last Night?
maybe they went into the game with the idea of limiting portis' reps? i dont really know but my hat goes off to CP for playing this hard through injuries.

Re: What Happened To Portis Last Night?
According to JZ, he was benched because he did not get the protection packages in practice last week, and Bett's did.

Re: What Happened To Portis Last Night?
Specifically, there were instances where Zorn expected Portis to get out as a receiving option due to what the Ravens were sending. The fact that Betts practiced and understood the scheme was the main reason Portis was benched. Zorn pointed out the pass Betts caught for 20+ yards setting up the only TD.

this is one thing i love about this board. if you ask a well worded kinda narrow question like the OP did here, you get your answer relativley quickly from knowledgable fellow fans.

Hot Route (N) - A short emergency passing route in football used to escape a potential sack from a blitzing defense. They are similar in length to short routes.

Re: What Happened To Portis Last Night?
I'm glad Zorn isn't coddling CP like Gibbs. Should be one set of rules for everyone. If Betts is doing all the work in practice he should get a chance in the game. Good for the whole team in the long run. Probably CP too.

Re: What Happened To Portis Last Night?
if your best defensive player played kickball with OTM in elementary school and he was designing suits until the he was signed half way thru last season . . . you might be the bengals.
If a guy actually changed his name to "ocho cinco" . . . you might be the bengals. If you cut a thug wr saying you are not going to allow that kind of person in your locker room then turn around and re-sign him a few months later . . . you might be the bengals. if you havent beaten your rival steelers at their house in 13 plus years . . . you might be the bengals. if your fans were the first to invent the brown paper bag over their heads . . . you might be the bengals (ok i took an educated guess on this one) man i hope we dont lose to the bengals. |

Over the mountain -- I think you might be disappointed. Even with 20 players on IR, the Bengals have played teams in the NFC E, which are better than we are, very very very close.
