Power Rankings
Even as their first-year coach attacked the exhibition schedule as though it were a five-game referendum on his personal worth, the Redskins had a miserable end to their preseason. After three consecutive faux victories, Washington got blown out by the Panthers (47-3) and Jaguars (24-3), making a very unhappy rookie mentor out of Jim Zorn.
“He’s not viewing these games as learning tools, or as a chance to evaluate young players,” Redskins executive vice president Vinny Cerrato said at the time. “Jim is competitive. He’s trying to win.” Redskins quickly shake early setback - NFL - Yahoo! Sports |

Glad we don't play the Panthers in regular season.

Re: Power Rankings
Wow, not too many people can claim that the media hates us now. We won, and we have respect.
I am really eager to see how the Skins respond, now that they are considered one of the NFL's best. Will we let it get to our heads or will we continue trucking?

Re: Power Rankings
Maybe Portis knew what he was talking about in preseason when he said the Skins will be one of the top 5 teams.
Peter Kings has them ranked 4th because he believes Romo is a slightly better Qb than Romo and that in a nuetral setting Kansas, Dallas would beat the skins. Re: Power Rankings
At this point, we are a top five team and I don't care where power polls rank us in that five. Given our schedule, a case could be made that we are the best team in football. It's nice to see the team getting some respect and getting into the top five is cool. At this point, however, I don't care about polls, I care about wins and, IMHO, I bet that's the attitude of fans who are used to winning teams (i.e. Indi, NE, Pitt, etc.).
Actually, I find myself checking the rankings of our future opponents to get a more realistic feel as to possible wins and losses are. Under the polls, and outside the NFC East, only Pittsburgh is rated in the top half of the league. That bodes well I think.

Re: Power Rankings
We need to blow out 2 of the next 3 opponents to make a move up. And anyone that doesnt have us better than Dallas after dominating them at home, needs to get over the past, and live in the now.
And we're the now. |

Re: Power Rankings
Yeah, I kind of missed his logic on that one. I can see playing the neutral site card if the teams haven't met, but we already took them in their house.
