ARE: Punt Returns
So I think it's a general consensus around here that ARE needs to be banned from returning punts from here on out.
Correct?

What happened to him? He was really bad today on returns.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
I was thinking of same thing after the game.. I think Zorn needs to put Thrash in for returns.. Because, unfortunately, it appears Thrash is only one who can do punt returns with decent results.. Thomas did not do anything in preseason..

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
I know they are rookies but how about Tryon or Thomas?

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
There was a running joke in the game thread that Thomas would only return the ball 5 yards before running into his own guy. (He was doing that during preseason maybe?)

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
How did this not get addressed in the Offseason and preseason. ARE is getting worse at this. Did we have anyone attempt this in the preseason? Not only are we not gaining any yards but now he looks like a liability. Come on Danny Smith. What about Rock Cartwright?

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
I'm glad someone has said ARE needs to be banned from PR duty. He is going backwards everytime instead of forwards gaining yards. For sure we need someone else because those returns for negative yards are furustrating and hurts our offense.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
Yes him or Rock, they run north-south and protect the ball. ARE just jumps around way too much. I actually like Thrash alot in the position, solid vet.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
Definately not Thomas, he runs into a tackler to avoid the big hit. My vote is for Cartwright or maybe Moss, he is pretty good in open space.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
I'd love to see Moss return punts but, I don't think we can risk injuring our #1 receiver.

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
ARE has been doing this for years now, he's terrible, and looks like he doesn't even want to be back there - so don't make him, find someone else.
thomas looked bad in pre season... thrash or betts maybe? i totally agree. |

Re: ARE: Punt Returns
Agreed.
James Thrash or Rock... Just run for 10-15 yards... don't dance... and DO NOT fumble. That's it. Punt return issues solved.
