We need competition for Suisham
I cant understand why we didnt get any compitition for Suisham. i mean last night he missed yet another field goal. I can say his kickoffs were much improved but his accuracy is just not quite there. You would think after a full year as kicker last year his accuracy would have improved but it seems to be the same old problem with kickers we always have. i guess we will have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully not to many games will come down to his leg and we can get more TDs from Campbell and crew!!!

It's the 80 man roster limit. Two kickers would take up too much space. Back in the day ( a year or so ago), he would definitely be competing for a job.

Suisham's fine. He just missed 1 kick!!! Granted it was a chip shot but you cant bring in competiton just after 1 miss. If he continues to miss kicks then bring someone in but not now.

Still, he has missed easy field goals in his last two games, if you include the loss to Seattle. I know this was the first game, but it'd be terrible to see him miss another chip shot.

I am sure he is on a close watch. Kickers get cut all the time. If he slips up too much he will be gone.

re: We need competition for Suisham
I heard Doc Walker say that teams like to have at least two kickers in training camp to make sure your main guy doesn't wear his leg out before the end of August.
But yes, in my mind, Suisham shouldn't be regarded so highly to the point that he's somehow above competition. Mark Mosley had competition for crying out loud. |

I was surprised to see a couple kickoffs make it to the Goal line. Also remeber that Suisham was working with a new holder (Brooks).

re: We need competition for Suisham
I also would not mind seeing competition for Suisham, and he might just get some. He has to be solid this season, we can't be coming away with a blank inside the 40, those should be automatic.
I'm sure his comfort level isn't that high at this moment. He did in fairness do well on kickoffs, has to improve his consistency on field goals. Those three's are crucial! I'm sure the coaching staff will be keeping a very close eye on his performance this pre-season, hopefully he will step it up and do fine....we'll see.

He was pretty solid last year. I think he's going to be fine.

Re: We need competition for Suisham
I have been an advocate for Suisham for a long time and think he is a solid kicker. However, everytime he gets on the field I definitely get a nervous feeling in gut. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go a head and bring in a kicker to compete just to put a little pressure on him.
Lets see how Frost does in the next game and if he tanks, cut him, give the job to Brooks and bring in a FG kicker to compete. Or cut devine...he serves no purpose on this team. What would guys think if they contact vanderjackt? Maybe he isn't a head case anymore. |

"Shazaam" will be fine. Brooks had a bad hold the other night.
