49ers guilty of tampering with Briggs- docked a draft pick

No link yet, just saw it on ESPN. The NFL has found the 49ers guilty of tampering with Chicago LB Lance Briggs during the regular season. They have been docked their 5th round pick, and have to swap 3rd round picks with the Bears. Principal Goodell strikes again. I'll post a link as soon as one is up.

How did they tamper with Lance Briggs?

It's against the rules for another team contact a player or a player's agent about a new deal when they're still under contract with their current team. The 49ers would have had to ask for permission to do so, which they allegedly did not. The NFL agreed with Chicago's accusations.

I'm actually suprised lol, the NFL has never bothered punishing teams for tampering before this. I guess Goodell is just trying to send another message, and he chose the '9ers because it was pretty obvious.

And that sucks for the '9ers as well, I mean sure a 5th round pick isn't worth that much in the grand scheme of things because finding an impact player in there is a little slim, but all the same that's a loss, and they have to move down a few spots in the third round too, probably about 4-8 spots because the Bears only went 7-9 and the '9ers went 5-11.

I never knew that, thanks, sucks for 49ers, good for Bears, maybe they could get a good mid-round pick QB.

The 49ers are quickly becoming a joke of a franchise. If you think our front office is bad, go review San Fran's past few offseasons.

Well geez just look at who their(SF's) HC is. Never thought Nolan would land another gig after his stint here, but I thought wrong. Guy might look like a million bucks on game day wearing Amani, but his team plays like scrubs wearing that cheap inner city FUBU crap.

It happens all the time behind the scenes but the 49ers and Briggs were a little too blatant about it I guess.

It's actually Reebok. Yes, I know they are suits, but they are Reebok.

They are indeed Reebok suits. Due to license agreements between NFL and Reebok coaches must wear Reebok attire.

I believe Del Rio is the only other coach to ask permission to wear the Reebok suits.
