Some Players Split On QB Issues.
The interesting question is this: would he come back as the starter? Or would Jason Campbell enter training camp as the No. 1 quarterback? Receiver Santana Moss said he wants all the quarterbacks to return and said, “This is Jason’s team.”
“It’s almost like, ‘what do you do?’” receiver Antwaan Randle El said. “Jason was playing well when he got hurt… It’s a tough deal.” I pulled this from my original thread just to address this.. We as fans are curious and have posted this to death, but it makes you wonder when there are different opinions among players. My point is that we all know how Gibbs feels about veteran QB'S. I can't imagine JC not being the starter next year.I certainly hope he is and he deserves it,but Gibbs is old school.I don't think my heart can take another QB controversy. |

Yeah but he's got 20 starts under his belt total and he'll be entering his 4th NFL season.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
Having three years in the league (regardless of playing time) makes him a vet in my book.
Everyone talked about what great strides he made last offseason. If he can do that again, hopefully Gibbs and Saunders will trust him enough to more than they did this year. |

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
Maybe this will answer your question courtesy of JLC:
Might as well start with some of the wacky quarterback controversy talk that's been brewing the last few weeks. Can we put it to bed now? They found the perfect relief pitcher for this system, who can give them a burst when needed and fill in admirably. But to diminish Campbell's development in any way to turn over the keys to Todd, well, it boggles my mind that anyone who suggest it. Todd is human. Todd makes mistakes. Todd is 36. Rejoice in what he is and the security he provides, and rejoice in that fact that a young potential franchise QB with great physical gifts and poise and maturity well beyond his years continues to stay ahead of the curve and make significant strides. Yesterday to me should end madness about this position. What did Todd Collins look like late, when he was trailing and had to chase the game for the first time (they'd never trailed in the previous 4 games)? How did that attempted comeback go? What was it like when the offensive line got overwhelmed and he was hit regularly and Portis and Moss looked like the dudes struggling to get it right in October and November, and not the stars from December? Well, guess what, that's what Jason was working with for the better part of 12 weeks.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
Collins had a great run and proved he can get it done when called upon.
However, let's not forget that Campbell is the future and he was coming along quite well this year. I have very high hopes for him heading into next year. He'll have another offseason of camps and practices, and another offseason of studying the offense. He might be able to operate the offense with the complete efficiency that Collins did next year, but he should be a lot closer to that level of play. |

its campbell. collins looked just as bad when his playmakers weren't making plays. in case of a tie, go with the young guy.

JC is the future, Collins could take his bonus for helping us to the play-offs and retire.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
I'd love to see Todd Collins back in Washington next year, because it can only help improve Jason Campbell that much more. Not to mention that a little healthy competition never hurt anyone.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
when campbell learns to control his turnovers, we will laugh that this conversation ever took place. I love Collins for what he did...he saved the so much more than just this season...i can't imagine what would have been written had he not done what he accomplished. that said, he's old and campbell is very promising.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
i would like to see Collins start next year, what can it hurt. if he starts stinkin it up, put Campbell in. another year on the sidelines wont hurt him. Dexter Manley had some interesting comments on this issue on Riggins' show.

Re: Some Players Split On QB Issues.
Guys there is no QB controversy, JC is our guy for the '08 season! He will be a star in this league.
