autograph question

ok soo i read around on diff forums if there is anyway to send players autograph requests, and i found out that you can send to individual players at redskins park in ashburn,, i wanted to know has anyone tried this ? i have 14 letters ready to send out to diff players, someone actually said that midway through the season sent marcus washington a request for an autograph and got back a pair of gloves signed by him, now i dont know how true that is but i'm thinking what the hell why not.. so does anyone else know anything about this?

Re: autograph question

I got an autograph from Darrell Green like that...it was a long time ago, and it took 3 years for him to return my card. I had given up and was shocked to get it back!

Re: autograph question

Send them out and see what happens. My question for you is where are you sending them to the skins or to the players home?

Re: autograph question

to the redskins, LOL i wish i had their home address but no this is what i found from the redskins website

Individual Autograph Requests

Please note, the Washington Redskins cannot accommodate requests from individuals for player autographs. Please do not send the Washington Redskins items such as footballs, jerseys, photos, and trading cards to be signed by Redskins players. Although we will attempt to return these items to the sender, we are not responsible if these items are lost, misplaced or damaged.

Please send fan mail and individual player autograph requests to:
Player's Name
Washington Redskins
21300 Redskin Park Drive
Ashburn, VA 20147

If you have an irreplaceable item, we suggest that you keep it in your possession. We cannot guarantee that any items sent to players or coaches will be returned. It is up to the individual player or coach to respond to his personal requests and fan mail. All requests should include a self-addressed stamped (unsealed) envelope. Please do not send items to more than one player in the same envelope.

I have sent out quite a few requests this year to the team and have had pretty good success. There were a few that I haven't heard back from but overall probably 80% return rate. In all the years I have been collecting I have never asked for anything from them other than the signature.

A few months back I sent a couple pictures to Len Hauss to sign and enclosed a few for him to keep. He was nice enough to add a signed picture of his own when he sent it back. Keep us posted if you have success..

Re: autograph question

I sent out 2 cards to Mark Rypien after the Redskins won the 91 super bowl, and I got both of them back that summer autographed by him, that was really cool for a 13 year old boy...

Re: autograph question

Would this be something to risk with a jersey, or do you think we should limit it to small items?

Well that depends on who you plan on sending it to.. there are some high profile players that could care less and you will never hear from them again. Others that are not as popular are glad to sign for you.

I would not chance it. If its an older player drop me a line I have addressess for quite a few.

In other words, if they make jerseys for them, they'll probably be hard to get a hold of

Re: autograph question

This is how I got my Gibbs autographs when I was a kid.

Wrote a bunch of NASCAR guys and got responses too: Cale Yarlborough, Bill Elliott, Dave Marcis, Kyle Petty (hey, once upon a time he had some promise...) and a couple of others.

Get some cheap trading cards. That's all I ever sent. Also, include a return envelope with a stamp on it.

I have sent out Mini helmets and 11x14 team pictures with quite a few signatures already on them to the older players and have always gotten them back. Well I wont say always I have a 1952 team picture I sent a guy a couple weeks ago and I am still waiting on that. the older players seem to enjoy hearing from the fans and are usually pretty quich about turning around the cards or whatever.
