Wow. That was pretty verbose, but the guy hits the nail on the head. Even the part about throwing his Skins t-shirt in the trash (I threw my fav hat out the living room window, literally, this past Sunday).

It's like I always say about the Skins- How can I love something so much that never loves me back? We stink, we've stunk since 1992, and I don't think it's getting better anytime soon. And you know what? Come Sunday I'll still have a fast pulse, I'll be a ball of nerves, and I'll be watching the Redskins regardless. Are we all blind masochists?? Hail. Sigh....

That's a little overboard & a little too pessimistic. Very depressing read...

You know for a bad as I take a loss I have to come back down to reality. For all those that want to just look at the negative...you could be an Eagles fan. They've only been to 2 SB's and lost both. They've never won. You could be a Cards fan, Seahawks fan, Falcon's fan, Buffalo fan, Chief fan (longtime since their SB), Jets fan, and the list goes on (yea the Jets have 1). We've won 3 which is more than probably 75% of the rest of the league. Hell right now being a proud 49er fan is excrutiating.

That's what got me thru Sunday night. It could be worse.

It's our recent culture of losing that made 2005 so special for Skins fans. Blowing out the Cowboys in the regular season felt almost as good as a Super Bowl. I feel sorry for the blogger - too young to have enjoyed the glory years and far more cynical than any 25 year old should be.

I am not as extreme as the blogger, but come 4th quarter time, I usually have to sit by myself. Except for the games I go to, then its ok to scream and cheer my head off for the skins

You're absolutely right about where we stand as a franchise vs. other teams as far as past success. We certainly have a better overall tradition than most teams out there in regard to winning. The only teams close are Dallas, SF, Pitt, GB, NE, maybe a few others. It's just SO hard right now to be a fan because of all the built up expectations surrounding Gibbs V2.0. And for me, it's not as much that we are losing right now, it's HOW we're losing that's making me crazy. It's just excruciating.

Good grief. Some things are better left unsaid.

What we need is a little more stoicism around here. Everybody's losing their heads. Things are never as bad or as good as they seem. What boggles my mind is that I don't remember that many people even picking the Redskins to make the playoffs here at The Warpath and you would expect a good deal of irrational exuberance in a place like this. Now, we're 5-4 and they act like they expected 9 - 0. The smart play is to just watch and make any sweeping analysis after the season ends.

Remember when being a fan was fun? I used to root, root, root for the home team. Day afterward I'd run and play. I'd scream at a dropped pass and cheer for a touchdown. I can still enjoy a good hockey or college basketball game. I can even go watch a high school football game, cheering wildly but not really caring who wins. Why are the Skins different? It's the only aspect of my life that makes me miserable that I just can't shake. Remember when Gibbs said that "winning no longer brings joy but losing is the most miserable thing in the world"? Fans of only one team are happy at the end of the year. Even if we pull it together and win the Super Bowl, by March I'll be fixated on the '08 season. Pathetic, huh?

Definitely agree. (In spite of your deep hatred for my hard earned labor you're ok ). Some people really need lives outside of the Redskins too it seems. Some of the reactions just seem to reflect really pathetic people.

No doubt! And woulda, shouda, coulda, been 8-1 aweful easy being a Monday morning QB.

Who would have ever forseen this amount of injuries we are dealing with again this year? Not an excuse.....JUST A FACT!

Yes, losing SUCKS,I agree. But we are sitting at 5-4 with a winning record and control our own destiny.

When Monday comes around the WINS carrry over for a while. The losses as I've aged are out of the memory bank, and I'm thinking about next week. Can't live in the past when it's bad stuff......LIFE IS WAY TO SHORT!

Yes and no. Really pathetic people? I wouldn't go that far. This guy is obviously a very intelligent grad student, and is only 25 years old. We know nothing about him other than he's a die hard Skins fan who's over-zealous and over-analytical. As far as his feelings about the skins, I agree with him. But I can put things in perspective. I love my team, and when they lose I'm definitely bummed out for a few hours on Sunday. But it doesn't carry over to my love life, my job, or my relationships with other people.

Another thing to consider is this guy wrote this thing on either Sunday or Monday, with the sting of the loss fresh in his head. I think calling him really pathetic is a bit of a stretch. Who on this site hasn't felt absolutely awful, whether it be for days or just hours, about the Redskins struggles over the years??

The difference is that we don't write about it. It's better to stuff all these emotions down and then take them out on your loved ones at an inappropriate moment.

You're right. Perhaps a little harsh. And trust me I know what it's like to feel the sting of a loss on a Monday. Nothing like having my job (of all jobs) after a loss.
