Where Was Calvin Johnson?
Before the draft I was one who thought CJ was the best pick out there and prayed he would fall to the Skins. Well, yesterday CJ was non-existent - almost literally. I guess he's been slowed by injuries or whatever. But boy am I glad we got Landry instead!
I don't think Detroit should draft a wideout in the first round for another 20 years. It's a curse. |

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
I am guilty of those thoughts before the draft as well.
Hmmmm, maybe Joe2 does know more than me??? Landry is.............special, and not in the short bus way

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
Like I said, I was all over CJ during the draft.
I think there's something in the water in Detroit. |

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
That's the problem with high draft picks. These guys get hyped and then the evaluation process just becomes a talking headfest.
I did my research on Okoye predraft, and it really doesn't surprise me that in his first 4 games he got 4 sacks. Wish we would have had the balls to take him (even though our DT situation is far from bad), but Landry isn't exactly chopped liver himself. CJ will be a fine receiver in this league, but a total waste of the second overall pick. Not that we didn't know that at the time. Anyway, my Dwayne Bowe rookie prediction is right on track. But hey, at least the Lions will get more utility out of the second overall pick than the Raiders will get out of the first.

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
Way to early to write off CJ, but I still think we made the better choice in taking Landry. He's really solidified the secondary, you would hardly know he's a rookie the way he's playing.

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
LaRon was a bomb pick. Arguably the best defender in the draft.

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
I wanted CJ but I was really happy with the Landry pick. I love the kid...he plays with a passion and throws pretty funny tantrums on the field...ask Kevin Jones, he knows who Landry be.

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
I'm glad they took Landry, but I wouldn't mind CJ either still. Before he got hurt early on against Philly on a pretty wicked shot, CJ had 10 receptions averaging 18.9 yards per and had 2 TDs as the 3rd wr so it's definitely too early to say he's a bust. if anything he and Landry have been pretty even production wise despite CJ missing a game and a half.

Re: Where Was Calvin Johnson?
CJ is a rook and not to be written off, and coming of an injury.
I however, NEVER wanted CJ in DC. We got the player we needed in Landry. Go figure they actually know what they are doing......
