How to Steal 3 Points from the Eagles

Call Timeout right at the snap of any FG attempt in the first half > 40 yards. That's a cheap use of a Time Out for the first half to gain 3 points and field position.

Every team in the NFL should do this until the NFL puts a stop to the nonsense.

That is the worst rule. It makes no sense at all. I hate it.

Of course it is. Its legalized cheating. Still, we should do it. This game is bigger than big, we **MUST** win this one. Dial up another week 2 Miracle Monday Joe!

if i was the coach for the raiders yesterday i would not have walked across the field and shook hands with the other coach. i think thats a bs rule and even though it is leagal, its still disrespectful from a coaching standpoint. maybe im a little overeacting..... but damn if i was a raiders fan after all the crap they deal with....

If that was Gibbs would you still have the same feeling. I don't have a problem with Icing the kicker but the rule should not allow you to wait until right before the snap to Ice the kicker. Its a rule and the coach used it to his advantage so I do not have a problem with it.

true, i guess im just looking at it from a fans view. the raiders are always getting screwed like this, well that and they suck but still. it was a division game and could have been a good win for them.

I agree, but I'm not the least bit surprised that it was Shanahan that did it. Questionable tactics are a regular part of his coaching strategy.

What was questionable about an allowed timeout which he took and gave his team the victory. He was under the rules which the NFL has established for all teams so he did what he was hired to do.

icing the kicker is one thing, but calling timeout as the snap goes (and telling the ref to call timeout as it is snapped) is something else.

It's questionable because everyone is questioning the legitimacy of the rule, due to that one play and it could very well lead to a rule change.

Re: How to Steal 3 Points from the Eagles

If it leads to a rule change then thats fine by me because I do not like the rule but all coaches have tried to ice a kicker before. He just realy timed his very well as he still had to call the timeout himself and I guess thats what people are getting on him for. Now if the kicker would have missed the first then nailed the second then we would not even be talking about this.
