Punters Galore - Training Camp Insider

There's no way Frost makes the roster if you ask me.

Re: Redskins looking at punters

I say we just use the roster spot for another balanced TE and go for it on every 4th down.

Bring back Joe Theisman to punt...

He may hold the record for the NFLs shortest punt.

Re: Redskins looking at punters

why is it so hard to get an nfl caliber punter? it seems like an eternity since the skins have had a good punter. how long has turk been gone? and even he flubbed one every so often

Wonder if Slingin Sammy would punt for us until we found a replacement?
His record still holds today.

Re: Redskins looking at punters

You'd think we'd be able to find a decent punter--he doesn't have to be all-pro, just not someone who shanks ever other kick.

Re: Redskins looking at punters

The biggest question is why was Frost the front runner to begin with, no one gave serious consideration to the fact that this guy was, and is a lowsey punter, we should have had more than just one punter in camp to compete from the get go.

I agree--that always struck me as odd. I have serious doubts about Danny smith. Sure, he likes to yell, and he's Williams pal, but come on!

Re: Redskins looking at punters

we had david lonnie. i think we should have taken koch (it's on record ) or araguz (sp?) who was the only competent punter in FA (but he WANTED to be a brown, go figure).

this draft was crap at punter though (2 sorta decent guys, 2 long shots). next year 2 good punters will be in the draft and a super kicker (this year he was 7/8 on 50+ yard FGs including something like a 57, 58, 58, 59 and i think he missed a 59).

Re: Redskins looking at punters

jesus that was fast. never heard of a guy getting signed then cut in one day. you'd think he'd just get a workout before siging him and then a serious shot.
