CBS NFL Today - Esiason thinks Williams stays with Skins

In a round table about hot coaches, Boomer mentioned Gregg Williams as the hot assistant in the league, but said that he'd likely stay in DC.

I don't know where he gets his info, but I hope to God he's right.

I think he leaves only if Dick Vermeil retires as K.C. coach. A friend of mine knows his niece and got that impression from her. Seeing that he is from that area worries me!!!

Re: CBS NFL Today - Esiason thinks Williams stays with Skins

If I was Williams I'd stay at least one more year. I think he wants to be successful and the best way to do that is to learn not only how to turn a franchise around (like Gibbs has), how to get the best out of your players (like Gibbs is now doing), how to coach in the playoffs (which Gibbs will hopefully getting a good run at this year) but also how to cope with maintaining momentum after a good season.

When you look at some of the best coaches, they were able to coach through adversity, not only when they had it good.

If Williams stays one more year he's probably got the Redskins. Gibbs may stay for the full five, but when he wins the big game or I think even gets there Gibbs may retire. Williams is the shoe in. I know the fans would like to see him stay another year and eventually take over as head coach here. But ofcourse Gibbs gets to stay as long as he wants. Hopefully Williams realizes the special thing going on here, but ya couldn't blame him to go to KC or STL or OAK or HOUS to run his own thing now. Maybe Snyder can give him a raise after the season!?!?!? I hope Williams stays!!! GO REDSKINS!!!
