Didn't get a chance to read the rest, so if this has been posted, I apologize.

If they are forced to change, make it Indians. They change that, make it Braves. They change that, make it The Tribe.

The most diverse and in-depth study was the one that found MOST Native Americans do not mind it. How about the ones who will feel insulted if they DO change it?

Unfortunately, I think the snowball has turned into an avalanche and every person wanting attention/power has hopped on board. I think the team will have their name changed by next year.

Re: Redskins Trademark cancelled

all you guys who think they should change the name need to not watch football ever again or your words are just air. If you are still watching the team or league you're an intellectual hypocrite.

I'm not meaning to insult you, just typing an example of what should take place as an argument if you mean it

So the big thing for a Dan Snyder at this point is that if Fans get any whiff that the name is going to change, I would think merchandise sales for anything with "Redskins" written on it will come to a screeching halt.

That's bad for business!

Yes, because we should always boycott something because of one thing we don't agree with. I don't agree with the Chick-fil-A's chief operating officer's stance on gay marriage, but I'll still eat a spicy chicken sandwich. I don't like the n-bomb, but I'm not tossing my Illmatic CD in the bin. I don't agree with most of Aaron Sorkin's political diatribes, but I won't stop watching Newsroom.

Tell you what- all you guys who think beating a woman in an elevator and dragging her out by her hair is bad need to not watch football ever again or your words are just air. If you are still watching the league, you are an intellectual hypocrite.

Actually, wouldn't be the opposite? I'm sure people are going to want to buy Redskins merchandise as collectible items.

Maybe, but I already have several pieces of Redskins merchandise because I am a fan. I am not going to buy anything else with Redskins on it if the team is about to change names. I see how it could work both ways however.

Chris Cooley ridicules name-change effort, says he’s now protesting the Chargers - The Washington Post

This issue is so ridiculous. If they are going to go against our trademark our name because of it offending people, then why not start a fire storm where every team name offends somebody. *SMH*

Can't remember where I saw it, but someone said to keep the name and change the logo to a redskin potato. A spud with a feather sticking out of it. I thought it was funny and a possible loophole.

Anyone else pick up on the irony? #you're

To echo what others have said, my emotional attachment to the team goes beyond the name. I honestly don't care what they're called it's not that serious to me. I've been a fan since '81 and if they are called the Redskins, Redfins, Redmins or whatever, it won't impact how fervently I am rooting for a win each and every time they step onto the field.

I lean towards a name change for 2 simple reasons, primarily because I believe it's the right thing to based on if there is a group that's being offended. Secondarily because I'm tired of the debate and our team name and reputation getting bandied about on each side of things. I wish we could just focus on football for once.

Why were you offended ?

I was amused by Cooley's comments about being him offended by the Charger's name, but that situation would be quite a bit different than someone offended by "Redskins."

Also, they shouldn't have said some of the things they said, especially in such a public setting. Some of their comments will do nothing but add fuel to the fire.
