Re: Roy Williams (WR) for a 2nd Round Pick?

I think I mentioned this already in another post, but should we be concerned in the Eagles land Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald?

No, we should be concerned if Westbrook is healthy. Donovan and TO didnt scare me, why would either of those two?

The Eagles are Brian Westbrook.

That year with TO was the Eagles best team under McNabb. Not as much Williams but if they ever got Fitzgerald they would be the odds on favorite to win the NFC.

The eagles look like the are going after a true #1 WR in a trade.
I'd much rather they have Roy Williams vs Larry Fitzgerald.

No way I want to see LF in the NFC east...he is one scary dude.
Williams is solid but not frightening.

Also...
I highly doubt the Lions would pass up a #2, #4, #6 and Lito Sheppard for R williams...the only reason they wouldn't is because its next year...which are considered equal to a round lower than this year.
I wouldn't give up a #1 for RW...but I'd consider it for LF.
I'd give up our #2 for either...anything more than that is a waste....and also remember the cap bind it puts you in.

I think our only shot is #2 for RW.
Or as someone else suggested.....Betts for RW...we may have to throw in a 5th rounder though.

I really dont think the Skins will be trading this year....but the odds of the Eagles doing it are high.

I dont even know if we will go after Hackett...so take a nap folks...the draft is a long way off!

That's a no brainer. If Detroit said that they would accept a #2 for Roy Williams, I would be pissed if Snyderato didn't pull the trigger. This isn't like trading for a stiff like Lloyd. Roy Williams is probably one of the 5 most talented WRs in the NFL, and he has put up very solid numbers.

This is an exaggeration right? It has to be. So the fact that he was 33rd in receiving yards last year, 16th in 2006, 67th in 2005, and 45th in 2004 doesn't really mean anything? The guy has tremendous physical gifts but I would be hard pressed to put him in the top 15-20 receivers in the league.
BTW, he has very comparable stats both physically and on the field as another WR who was extremely gifted. A guy by the name of David Boston.
DB Stats:
1999 40/773 Yds/2 Tds
2000 71/1156/7
2001 98/1598/8
2002 32/512/1
RW Stats:
2004 64/838/5
2005 82/1310/7
2006 45/687/8
2007 54/817/8
I thought this might put just a little perspective on the guy. I am not saying he won't be great, but isn't "great" now and so far, his statistics don't really measure up.

Re: Roy Williams (WR) for a 2nd Round Pick?

if david boston can stay healthy he will be deadly, but if he gets injured like he has in the past it will be a waste, i say sign david boston and see what hes got, i would also like to add this :Before the 2004 season, he tested positive for steroids and was ordered to serve a 4-game suspension. This became negligible after he tore ligaments in his knee and was unable to play for the entire season. The Dolphins cut him at the end of the year, then proceeded to sign him for the veterans' minimum for 2005. He played in 5 games that year before tearing knee ligaments again, and in 2006 he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was released on September 12th, 2007 after being arrested for DUI.

Wow! I wasn't trying to insinuate that we should pick up DB but that sure is a novel idea. They guy is an absolute head case (I was in SD when he was with the Chargers) but he had all of the tools. In SD, the reporters used to talk about how he was in the gym so much that he had been pushing 245 lbs at 6'2" and couldn't get full extension of his arms!

No, we need to keep our picks. Draft Limas Sweed, Malcolm Kelly, or James Hardy in the 2nd. Learn from the successful teams and build through the draft.

i think limas sweed will be a bust, go look at his highlights, is not YAC, hes not a possession receiver... which is what we need... he may not be a bust but hes not what we need.

That would be great, but they would have to take any of those guys at #21 in the 1st, in all likelihood, to get any of them.
