Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

One thing we can say about him is he's never had off the field issues, until now. He's never been locked up, picked up for DWI, caught with hookers and coke in a hotel room, etc.

He might be a pain in the ass in the locker room, and even that's debateable to an extent. Alot of his ex-teammates say he wasn't a problem. You also have to consider how some of his antics are blown way out of proportion by the media.

Hate the player, but I don't see any reason to hate the man.

Michael Irvin on the Dan Patrick show reporting that T.O. "just mistakenly took an incorrect amount of pain pills" after traning yesterday, as his hand was hurting. Bill Parcells to hold press conf shortly.

And I don't think anyone is worthy of forgiveness who hasn't actually sought forgiveness or admitted to doing something wrong. T.O. has never expressed any regret for his actions against teammates.......so why would I forgive someone who's never asked for it, shown any remorse whatsoever, or admitted they were wrong?

As for judging him? I, for one, judged him to be an a$$hole for years now. Nothing about these recent events has changed my opinion.
To be fair, he did apologize to the Eagles once he realized that he really was expendable and that they were going to bench him for the season.

A severely flawed human. Nothing funny about his attempted suicide/incorrect dsage.

But it does cause the Cow-Whores problems and that I like!

How did he ever get a contract from the Cowboys?

[A denial has been issued via D. Sanders, I think it is safe to add some levity]

If he did take that many pills he should be suspended for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.

I think TO is great - he torpedoed the Eagles for a year, and now he's in Dallass to do the same. I wish him a speedy recovery so he can get back in that locker room to screw things up for the Cowgirlz.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

For those of you who are unwilling or unable to show any empathy for a person battling with suicidal depression (if the reports are true), then I hope from the bottom of my heart that you never have to experience depression up close and personal. As someone who has seen depression and suicide in my family, I can tell you it is the most gut wrenching and painful thing you have ever even attempted to comprehend.

T.O. is an first class jerk, no if ands or buts, but to show no empathy for another human struggling like that is pretty low. To joke about it is reprehensible. Frankly, I am embarrased to be a member of this community right now.

Re: ESPN Report: Terrell Owens attempts suicide

I can't believe some of the stuff people write out here. You are talking about a human being for christ sake. You are hating the guy because of him being a Eagle, a cowboy.. that is ridiculous. Everyone, rich, poor, middle class has problems. For people to cuss the guy when he is apparently going through depression issues or what ever the case may be is class less. I had a very close family member who committed suicide because of depression and to hear people say the most insensative things I have ever heard speaks volumes of ones inteligence. If all you can do is call the guy a moron, ass, F this and F that, then dont say anything. People going through depression are not their normal selves and obviously need some sort of professional help. To be so callus towards and athlete because you dont like their antics or who they play for is stupid. I thought people here could differentiate between athletes and the real people they are off the field. I guess not.

Well, it was a pretty lame and nonspecific apology and, like you noted, it didn't come until he realized the Eagles were going to sit him. After all, the apology was so weak that the Eagles sat him anyway because he didn't comply with Andy Reid's specific instructions regarding what needed to be addressed in that apology. Personally I don't see the value of any apology that's being made at the direction of someone else, but however you view his "apology", it was anything but heartfelt.

If I played for the Cowboys I'd be depressed too.

I was kidding - the sarcasm didn't translate well.

Unfortunately, the players union voted to save nutcases like him for being deactivated for the season. I would say his career is over but, you always have teams like SEA who'll employ the services of likes of Koren Robinson.
