Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
The best thing right now is for this team to win 2-3 games next year. That way everyone will get fired. I'm just not sure there would be anyone capable that could pick the next coach. They'd only pick someone that could get along, like a Gruden or Zorn type.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
From a 2011 article by Kevin Cowherd:
"It was former Orioles GM Syd Thrift who famously observed of all the talented free agents who spurned the club more than a decade ago: 'It's like we're offering Confederate money.'" I've long thought that Dan Snyder is a lot like Peter Angelos in the way he ineptly runs his organization oblivious to the perceptions of the outside world. Now, he has finally sunk to the same level as Angelos where good people won't even accept big money to work for him. |

Can't remember exactly where I saw the breakdown (I think Pro Football Focus) but statistically, establishing the run isn't as important as many of us are convinced it is and in many cases the tunnel vision focus to do so hinders the offense as a whole. You want to keep defenses unsure of where the ball is going but you can do so with short passes, bubble screens etc. I like the attitude that comes with hard nosed football but statistically, average yards are what matters, not how you get them. John Defilippo has been ineffective everywhere he's been other than Philly and I think that had more to do with Frank Reich. Manusky? I don't know.. at times I think he's better than he gets credit for and other times I think he's awful. My biggest gripe on both sides of the ball are the lack of preparation and in-game adjustments. Fix those two things and find an identity and culture and I think this ship gets righted fast. |

With our team, running the ball should be the foundation to work towards becoming a more balance team.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Some guys at PFF (Steve , Sam) argue that running the ball isn't a priority in today's league, I disagree with the notion of abandoning the run all together.. I think it's still pretty important as we saw with the Rams Saturday Night.

My hope is that next year shows that this roster has talent, but that the season goes wrong enough for Dan to have no choice but to fire everybody and try to hire some proven coaches to stop this fanbase's erosion.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Read the following at risk of becoming deeply depressed.
From cbssports.com, Mike Martz on Sean McVay: "There's just one of him. This isn't a prototype, they don't just churn these things out," Martz said Tuesday during an appearance on Reiter's Block. "He's unique, he's very special -- as is Sean Payton -- and for some reason, the league thinks that they're all out there. They're not. These good coaches they came in all kinds of sizes and shapes and ages. The younger generation of coaches, they're not all going to be Sean McVay. You have to understand how different and special this guy really is. Just because someone has been with him doesn't mean he's going to be the next Sean McVay. It just doesn't work like that." So many of us were upset when the Skins' worthless FO let Sean McVay get away. I posted at the time that they should have fired Gruden and elevated McVay to HC so they wouldn't lose him. It may have seemed to be an extreme position for me to take at the time but it wasn't. If our FO could recognize rare talent and if they were bold enough and decisive enough to make the right moves, then McVay would be our HC right now. Unfortunately, they are not and so he is not our HC. As long as we have an ignorant owner and an unqualified GM, the Redskins will never rise to the level of SB contenders. At this point, discussing the running game, assistant coaching hires, etc. is nothing more than mental masturbation. They all mean nothing unless the owner hires a competent GM and stays out of his way. |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Yeah it sucks we missed out on McVay, he made Jay look better than what he was clearly.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
There's no way to guarantee McVay would be having the same success here as he is in LA. In fact, I think there's a strong argument to be made that he WOULDN'T have as much success, simply due to our culture/ownership.
McVay would of gotten hired here, sucked for 3 years or so due to this organizations inability to win anything and get relegated back to an Offensive Coordinator somewhere else. Then we'd all be saying, "See he was way too young for that position." I'm very happy for Sean and love seeing him succeed. But just assuming his exact success would have transpired here as well is silly. There's a lot that goes into winning, from top to bottom. We may have had a quality coach but he'd be sandwiched with shit above him and shit below him. Hard to win with that.

Time to clean house 1.0.
Another coach jumping ship. Kirk Olivadotti meeting with Packers for SAME position
Article says other coaches are trying to leave, but they’ve been blocked from talking to other teams. Literally no one wants to coach here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hog...b-with-packers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
The NFL right now basically has a massive 100mg of Viagra hard on for McVay. If you talked to him in passing you'll get a NFL job. It's ridiculous.
