Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)
20 minutes into the VP debate and...
I don't think Ryan is slam dunking this like people expected. Seems pretty balanced so far, maybe Biden with an edge.

Yup ... and we both know which way we each lean. Even so, Biden is just coming across as an ass to me. Ryan has his own faults.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)
Well, the debate was certainly closer this time. Being a fan of Ryan, I was put off by Biden's filibustering, and kinda mad when Biden was even interrupting and yelling at the moderator. I imagine people supporting Biden/Obama liked what Biden was doing theatrically. I still wish they'd mute each debater when his time is up.
I thought Ryan won on what substance he was able to get in. What a lot of the stimulus went for, the difference between a cut and a spending decrease, what's projected for Obamacare (or Romneycare for that matter), everybody knows you overcome the debt balance with growth... I thought Biden might have won people over on style, but that depends on what others think. Obama spoke more minutes than Romney did, in their first debate. This debate was even more lopsided, lol. |

Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)
It is quite easy to be a fierce, fiery debater without being an ass.
There was ample shit shoveled by both sides tonight.

Huge hypocrisy. I love it. Democrats need to take it to the opponent with a freaking sledgehammer. I'm sick of being pushed around by the far right. Durbin had it spot on: the only reason repubs are talking about bidens smiling or interrupting is because Ryan was destroyed in all other areas.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)
Biden's demeanor and interruptions were embarrassing. I didn't watch the first debate, and have for the most part given up on the political system, but for me, just off that debate, I may end up voting for Romney(not that it would matter much in Md).

Biden was unprofessional and uncivil and did nothing to persuade fence sitters "Hey, let's vote for this guy!". Ryan was evasive. He was professional and strong on presentation. BUT - I counted at least three separate direct questions, he simply failed to answer. lt's the kind of thing that makes me yell at the screen "It's a simple question - JUST ANSWER IT!" I thought they both blew - big time - the final question concerning negativity in campaigns and the soldier "desparing for America". I turned to my wife and said, "Well, that's a softball", because I was expecting to hear two puff pieces on why America is great and admitting the negativity but hoping we could get past it to build a better place for the future blah blah blah. Instead, they both take the opportunity to say what a horrible America it will be if the other guy gets elected. Sad. Just sad. All in all. Content wise it was what we expected and nothing new. Those of you claiming Ryan looked like a newb, I respectfully disagree. He looked like a polished politician - with all the good and ill that implies. Biden on the other hand, to me, looked like an unpolished politician - with all the good and ill that implies.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election (free for all edition)
I will also say this (and yes I know it was not a court room setting) -- if an attorney behaved in the manner Biden did while presenting a case at trial - rolling his eyes, smirking, laughing when not speaking and interrupting opposing counsel & the judge, he would have been found in contempt so fast it wouldn't be funny.
If you can't advocate your position without being an ass, then either you are truly an ass or your position is just not that strong.
