Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

Adam Schefter is reporting a connection between Todd Bowles and Matt Nagy. And now that Vic Fangio is leaving Chicago, Todd Bowles being considered for DC in Chicago.

If true, that is a hell of a defense to inherit. Even without Mack. But with him makes that a very favorable job.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that it takes two to tango.

Bowles probably didn’t want to come here.

So Why would we fire manusky unless we know for a certainty we can find someone better? THAT would be stupid.

Decades of Organizational dysfunction aside, Jay is essentially a lame duck head coach. He either wins this year or he’s fired. Barring a dramatic turnaround, Any defensive coach coming here is very likely only going to be here one year. Why would ANYONE who has better options want to do that? There’s simply no job security. Any good defensive coordinator is going to want to go somewhere with a new head coach, so they can be pretty confident in having at least 2 years of job security.

That's what I mean. He's going to be no nonsense and Jay just isn't that hard ass kind of guy. He wants someone that can go along with his personality and isn't a threat to him more than he wants results.

All of this unless you believe, as many do, that Tomsula would be better. You could fire Manusky (if one of the better options doesn't work out the for reasons you describe) and promote Tomsula.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

Yeah the reality is that every defensive coordinator candidate knows that Gruden is on thin ice. They see he is under contract for 2019 and 2020, and that's it. Which is basically saying he has one more year before he must either be extended or fired.

And every defensive coordinator candidate knows that Alex Smith may not play again, so this team will be looking at either Colt McCoy, a rookie, or paying out the nose for a veteran which will completely rob his defense of cap space to make improvements.

So if you're a defensive coordinator and you've got options like Bowles does, would you seriously consider the Redskins? Would you if you were Williams?

I'd say thanks but no thanks, not my circus, not my monkeys.

We haven't fired Manusky yet because we know we're not an attractive situation.

By the way, reality sucks right now for Redskins fans. It's bleaker than I can ever remember it. The Alex Smith injury is a dark cloud that makes things very difficult on us. The only thing that can save the day is hitting on a rookie.

perhaps an offseason or two of all the top coaching candidates telling us "thanks but no thanks" is exactly what Snyder needs to see to realize that his shit does indeed stink - very badly.

Yep, My hopes are not high at all for 2019.. It looks like a 4-12 set up if AS can't play for the first 5-8 games. Unless like u said we hit on a rookie QB that is just amazing..

Agreed. I usually go into the off-season with some hope and an idea on how the team could turn things around but this year...

It just feels like we've hit the bottom of the barrel. With no money, a lack of talent across the board, locker room drama, an insufferable front office, etc. The list goes on and on and on.

The only saving grace I can point to is our draft capital. We have ammunition to make some moves, I suppose. But even then I don't think we have enough capital to fix everything in one off-season. Or even restore hope in that time.

Unless we somehow land a generational talent who can single-handily win games for us, the future is bleak.

I think we're in store for a full tear down of the team come 2020 and in all honesty we probably need it. Even still, I don't believe it will bear any results as long as Snyder is the owner. So it's still hard to get my hopes up.

Thus the apathy has set in for me, as it has for much of the fan base. And at this point it's on the organization to GIVE me a reason to actively support them.

This is the reality of the situation.... and this is why I feel Manusky will be back.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

Its a lame duck staff that already knows 2019 will be their last year here , barring a miracle playoff run with our 20M QB out for half the yr... In reality we all really should hope for a 3-13 season and grab Tua in 2020. Keep the Bama thing going why not?

Keim disputes it. Says Gray was in the building today.
